  1. I left my partner on scene once.... kind of. There were 3 of us on the truck that night, 2 of us hoped in the truck following a refusal of transport. The 3rd was talking to fire. We decided to drive up to the cul-de-sac and turn around while he finished talking. The 3rd guy panicked, not realizing it was a deadend street and started calling us on the radio, thinking we'd left him on accident. It was freaking awesome. I think Chuck is it though... other than shears.
  2. ... you call, we haul. Then, after the call write up a report about it, letting the supervisor and/or ops manager handle it. Not my place to voice my concerns w/ the nursing home staff.. especially since they are mostly dipshits and I don't handle stupid well.
  3. My saddest call and "first" call was the Friday of Labor day weekend, 2007. I was still in EMT school, but had just enough knowledge to be able to do an assessment and CPR. My little girl was hit and killed by my husband who was working in our yard on his bulldozer. No matter what I ever do, it will never get worse.
  4. I'm an AMR employee, but we totally didnt have a hard application process. We interviewed and had a basic skills test which was basically to make sure we could pick up our share (I think it was 120 pounds maybe) and carry it up and down stairs. We didnt do assessments or practicals of any kind. PS, I love my job! I work for a VERY SMALL division. We only run 4 trucks and have about 10k calls a year, I think 70% are 911, 30% NET. We all usually end up running 1-2 interfacility transports a shift between 911 calls.
  5. we go "code 3" to all calls, but hardly ever into the hospital.
  6. I'm Erin, a 32 year old fairly new EMT-I working for a private 911 provider south of the city. I've visited another EMS forum for a while but just found this one!
