  1. This lady enrages me. She's got more kids than she can deal with, and she's riding the system so that she can sit on her fat a$$ without tripping over her disgusting belly, and get her free hand out from the government. Why not get a job and support your children and teach them work ethic? Nope....she's just gonna ride it out, because who would honestly work when people are giving you more money to stay the hell home? Meanwhile, I'm trying like heck to support myself through school. I got laid off last month, and lost my house on the same day. Literally, had everything I own sitting in my car outside my office, and got called into the conference room to tell me that I don't have a job anymore. So it's been 4 week and no unemployment check. I apply for food assistance (aka welfare) because I have ZERO money coming in...and they tell me: "I'm sorry, since you have no children, and you're not working at least 20 hours per week, you don't qualify. You need to get a job, and then reapply for assistance" Wait......what???? If I HAD a job right now...I wouldn't be spending my free time applying for government assistance. That's right....because I haven't laid down and gotten knocked up out of the point blank thought of "I can barely sustain myself, what would I do to support a child" and because I'm focused on school right now (I'm taking three classes PLUS EMT- and because I lost my job, I don't qualify for ANYTHING. That's right I'M TOO BROKE FOR WELFARE PEOPLE!!!!! Eff this broke a$$ bi#ch and her children. Maybe she'll sell me one so I can qualify for some support?
  2. How did he get out of the car if the dashboard pinned him in like you said?
  3. The human body and all the systems. It's not hard, but it is for most of the class since they're coming in off the street and being expected to learn all of that info in one week and testing on it the next week. Our course is only 14 weeks long and 3 days a week...so it's a lot and you gotta really work to keep up.
  4. Hey guys, I know there's a lot of people on here who are EMT-B's, or getting into the program. I'm in the program in Daytona Beach, FL...and it's a LOT to learn!!! I found this book, and I'm putting it on here because it's saving my a$$ in class with some of the studying. It's got sample questions that my teachers have used, and case studies to give examples of some of the stuff we will run into in the field. I'm pushing it like crack on my classmates cause it WORKS! I've been studying off of this book more than my class book and I pulled a 94 on my last test, which the instructor said is the hardest chapter in the entire course for most people. So good luck, and I hope this helps you as much as it's helped me!!! Title: EMT-Basic review: A case based approach ISBN: 13 978-0-323-04776-0 http://search.barnesandnoble.com/EMT-Basic...23047760/?itm=1 That's the link to the book at Barnes and Noble.
  5. I feel like there's a need for both. You need to have education to create a basis so that you know what you need to know before you walk into a scenario, or you need to know what's going on internally when you're faced with a situation. At the same time, you need to have the street education to be able to work with people and see that grey area and know when to bend and when you need to hold strong. Take CPR....what good would all those chest compressions be if you didn't know why you were doing them? Would you still think they are as important? You might just do them, but not really care if you don't know why they're so important.
  6. Daytona State doesn't require anything. Your first lab night they have a CPR class for healthcare workers so that you're certified immediately. No extra charge, it's covered in your tuition. Also, EMT at Daytona State College is eligible for financial aid...so if you're needing help paying for the class, you can do that as well.
  7. I'm in the EMT program at Daytona State College, and it's going really well. They have a few courses a year, and it's 14 weeks long. It's taught by local EMS personell, so every day is an interview, and it includes clinicals and everything. DEF worth it. They only allow 40 or so people each class cycle, and they have night and weekend classes. Check it out at daytonastate.edu and do a search for EMT.
