  1. Cheeky, Do ya see the can opener I just took out of my pocket....I'm about to open a major can of whoop a**!!!! I know you think I"m at you all the time about not eating enough and not enough different kinds of food (IMO)....in your opinion you eat plenty. Some of your comments in your posts , as you can see have lead others to think you may have an eating disorder. As I mentioned to one member and poster in this thread, I'm only with you 2 days a wk, sometimes less and therefore have no idea what you are eating and how much you are exercising while I'm gone. Had I known the extent of it, you wouldn't have made it this far. In fact, as far as I"m concerned you shouldn't be exercising at all right now.....at least not until after your follow up appt on Fri.....which by the way, I will be going to with you. Ya think I haven't noticed the weight loss. I'm gone all wk hun, I"m certainly gonna notice if certain area's are "shrinking" by the time I get home the next wk. Ya think I haven't noticed the pants ya bought just 2 wks ago are too big already??? There is nothing wrong with wanting to be healthy and eat right, but hun I really think you've crossed the line and are possibly heading down a very bummy road. I honestly don't see how anyone can think that taking in 800 calories a day and burning 600 of those on the treadmill is healthy. You are not taking in enough to sustain your level of activity. Well, guess what darlin.....things are about to change.
  2. Lol, nope I don't expect it will look like this after the party. We have a party planned for the Labour Day weekend too....Too bad I'm not gonna be around to enjoy it with Cheeky and the kids for the first week...I have to go back to work ....funny how that happens....you book a month off and still have to go to work. I'm expecting the hot tub to suffer the worst of it...lol.. Hopefully a few you will be able to make it...will be a good time. Streetsurgeon, Cheeky still has you coming..lol You too n0
  3. Had a bit of a set back with the baby...he's been readmitted. He had not improved any over the last 2days , took him up to emerg last night. He had alot of chest congestion and a very croupy cough, couldn't catch his breath when he'd start coughing, has been vomiting after every feed and his temp had gone up to 103. not sleeping and just plain miserable. As you see in this pic, he does not look well at all. http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii68/ai...os/DSC01796.jpg They have him back on IV, changed his anitibiotic and increased his neb treatments and have him in a croup tent with o2. Looks like Laura will be home before the baby. Still expecting Laura home Mon , if she gets the all clear from the resiratory doc Mon morning. Pedi is looking towards Tues or Wed before baby comes home.
  4. Laura was taken off the vent this morning. Doc and respiratory therapist did a spontaneous breathing trial and she passed with flying colours. She was put on CPAP and extubated about 30 min's later. She's doing well...aside from a very hoarse voice, sore throat, and being tired and hungry....lol....She's slept most of the day so far, but doc says that's normal. Her SATS are remaining over 90% and I can finally breathe now. Every day should bring more improvement and with any luck she'll be home in a couple days.
  5. Sorry to hear about your wife. Glad she is doing better and home.
  6. Doc is gonna begin weaning her off the vent tomorrow morning. Expecting that to go well. She's had another good day today and baby is home now, so things are looking up.
  7. Well, she had a good night last night, things seem to be improving. Baby also had a good night, he's improved quite a bit since yesterday. Our little guy Adam http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii68/ai...os/DSC01741.jpg Cheeky and baby Adam http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii68/ai...tos/Photo45.jpg
  8. What a great group of people you all are. Laura would appreciate all your messages as I do. After a very long day at the hospital I"m bout ready to crash. Baby has been admitted as well but is much better off then Laura. A few complications with Laura today, problems with hyperinflation and/or PEEP, both were mentioned in the conversation with the doc, but again, I"m a millwright not a medic....lol When you're in a crisis situation you tend to absorb what you need to and the rest just goes in one ear and out the other....none of those terms mean squat to me, as long I know she's breathing and doing ok that's all i need to know. Babe is on IV and nebs , anitbiotics....someone pinch me so I wake up.... I do believe that god never gives us more then we can handle, but damn
  9. Thanks Terri. Anyway, just to update those that have asked. Since my last post , Laura has been taken to the ICU and is on a vent....doc is thinking 72 hrs. She was not responding to treatment and had become very fatigued. She's holding her own now and hoping to see some improvement by tomorrow. Thanks to all of you that have sent your well wishes. Will update again tomorrow .
  10. Thanks for the well wishes. I'm just waiting on the babysitter and will be heading up to the hospital. As far as how much or what substance was inhaled, I would have no idea. That is something I'm assuming the doc will be able to answer for me. I will make it a point to ask. I do know that she and the kids remained in the vehicle for approx 25 min's after the crash. The vehicle was struck on the drivers side. The drivers door and drivers side sliding door were not able to be opened without fire crews. Laura and baby were both on drivers side , Laura was restrained with seat belt and babe in a rear facing Graco Safe Seat. Both seats were equipped with seat mounted side impact airbags and all side impact airbags deployed. Babe has been crankier than usual...he's generally a very happy baby, but is always wanting to be held and is crying frequently. He seems to have mild chest congestion when he cries and for a short period of time after settling. Am wondering if he should be rechecked. I spoke with the doc on the phone early this morning and he said that she had a relatively good night but her 02 sats have remained below 90% and are hovering around 86%. She is on O2, IV steroids, and nebulizer treatments every 2hrs. We will have to wait and see how her day is today and the doc will decide what else should be done if anything. If there is no improvement in her SATS he said she may need to be moved to the ICU and intubated for a couple days to give her a little help....They did blood gases yesterday and again this morning, I have no idea how those came back...hoping to see a little improvement today.
  11. Just wanted to pass on a tid bit of information for any of you who may be interested or wondering. As some of you are aware CheekyEMT and 2 of our children...7yr old Christopher and 5 month old Adam were struck at an intersection on Wed morning after being hit by a driver running a red light. The kids are both ok, thank god...however less then 24hrs after the accident occuring Cheeky had become quite sore as was to be expected...her primary complaint the day after the accident was chest pain and shoulder pain and a persistant cough that became tinted with blood. By late Thurs afternoon she was feeling very short of breath and generally unwell. Please bear with me as I am not a medical professional and do not know all the lingo you guys use,,i'm just her hubby. She called me to come home from work and by the time I got here it was quite obvious that she was not well at all.....I took her to the hospital, probably should have called an ambulance but we don't live that far from the hospital. After being admitted they started an IV with Solumedrol (I think that's what it was called) and antibiotics...the doc said he wanted to use a brod spectrum antibiotic because he wasn't to sure what was going on yet. She had a chest xray Thurs and Fri morning a CT Scan and doc has now diagnosed it as chemical pneumonitis. He said this can happen after air bags deploy and release the chemicals into the vehicle. The chemicals get inhaled, usually by the driver and can become quite serious. Cheeky is also an asthmatic on daily med's , so throwing something like pneumonia into the mix can make her quite sick. Anyway, just wanted to let you all know and ask you to keep her in your thoughts. I took the laptop to her, so she may be able to get online occassionally. Have any of you every had any experience with this kind of pneumonia? Is it as serious as doc is making it out to be?
