Actually the British Columbia Ambulance Service (BCAS) and EMA (Emergency Medical Assistant) licensing board are two separate entities. The BCAS is the sole provider of emergency ambulance services in the province of BC. If you want to work in BC they will be your employer. The EMA licensing board is the licensing body in the province of BC. You must be licensed by them if you wish to practise as a paramedic in BC.
I don't know what parts of your training will transfer over but the folks at the EMA licensing are the people you will need to talk to. If you can transfer over be aware that we will be entering contract negotiations in 2009.
Thanks for clarification. I thought they were one in the same.

You would have to get in touch with the registration and licensing board (British Columbia Ambulance Service). Give them a call as they can answer your specific questions as they are the the licensing body.

I see so the market's had nothing to do with it, nor did the price of gas, or that the car makers profit margin, nor a recession had any influence ... looks like we all know where you stand.
But saying that (I want too make it very clear these are not my words)
The UAW fought for autoworkers to make $40.00 an hr, for a job that is worth $15-18 an hr
Did you want to join Jimmy Hoffa so have you been fitted with cement shoes and are you nuts, cause you sure aint smart .... well, with that post.
I will send flowers.
I got a good chuckle out of this post..lol

Everyone here has probably watched COPS,and really I don't see the difference here....

Why would you want to work in the US? Just curious

algebra is a pretty fun unit in math. If you want to really broaden your horizens, take a calculus or finite course.

thats of course if part time works for you. 10 months for that program. or 3 months at portage. you decide.

They don't hand out CMA accreditations very easily, but alot of it is just paper work and process.

What calls sometimes throw you off or sometimes trip you up? This question mainly applies to the veteran Paramedics who have worked the streets 5-10 years. We ALL have our weaknesses,so what is yours and how do you handle it.

I didnt think you needed to take a driving course for a class f. I thought as soon as you had your g license you could just take the test?

With any post secondary training, put forth the time and effort and good things will come of it. Good luck at SIAST.

I have had to re-read your statments if thats what you call them 2 and 3 times to understand what you were trying to say,or atleast attempt. Before you can make statements such as this ;
the AHA is a large so-called not for profit organization, but these people make millions of dollars every year by selling books, recert cpr cards and receiving grants/funding from govt.( ie, you& i) and all they simply say is "WE NEED CPR", but have yet to prove that it is effective on a pulseless and non-breathing human.
read this:
AHA CIRC STATS
In house survival rates
Like stated above, before you go out and make such statement, you need to have clinical evidence, before making such a statment. If you would like more information,PM ME. I have enough journals and articles to keep you busy for a solid 5 years.
