  1. Hmmm, guess it's better to sing I'm in the coast guard now than the army !

  2. It is not hard to transfer to another state as long as you are nationally certified. All you do is obtain job in that state and take any state test they may require or it may be as simple as paying a fee.
  3. in the Coast guard now

  4. in the Coast guard now

  6. hello all! I agree with you guys. I am an emt basic and a member of the USCG and I think an exercise program is a great idea for any job that may be strenuous as some point, even if it's not every call. I am at a small boat station and we are pretty much ambulance on water during the summer. I hope that the civilian sector willl soon realize the need for endurance and health like the military already does. Good luck guys and don't get down....keep up the good work.
  7. I don't understand why you are asking did i miss something.....what are you wanting to know?? Or were you just telling us? Have a good night.
  8. I really enjoyed reading about this syndrome. LOL I have never heard of it. I'm from the West originally and now live in the south. I get made fun of constantly for the way I say some words due to the two dialects mixing. Maybe I could use this syndrome as an excuse? lol
  9. You will do great i'm sure! just keep your head up! You will get through it
  10. LOL no! maybe i'm just crazy... i'm only 21 and i love my job... i haven't been beat up either... lol
  11. for one just because you are an emt doesn't mean you are no longer a civilian. People involved in wrecks have all kinds of needs....not just bleeding and trauma. The bystanders are also going through the stress and any scene could go bad becuase a bystander flips out. If you've been in EMS very long you should know that. And directing traffic is ok if you are off duty.....maybe the police haven't made it there or the traffic is heavy volume...anything can happen
  12. Lisa you are more than normal! Your attitude is what makes you a great medic! Don't ever feel like you shouldn't ask if they need help. In small communities they more than likely could always use help! Even if it's just to help direct traffic or talk to bystanders. Besides they can tell you no if they don' t need it.
  13. LMAO that is the funniest crap I have heard in a while! I needed a good laugh! Thank you for posting that!
