  1. Hmmm.

You want a zoll? start there. Before you look at public grants on PAD's, try fund drives for internal upgrades.

Set up a public "heartsaver" drive. Set your goal at whatever you need for a spec'd Zoll, x 2 for a spare. Hold a coin toss at an intersection, shoot for a few grand. Use that to create advertising and flyers for the event, wait a month or so (so the coin toss peeps forget they gave) and send a mass mailer fund drive to promote the event and ask for donations.

    Now...Its summer, fairly warm.

Throw a fundraising barbcue at your service with the rest of the coin toss cash. Invite the local radio station (free promotionals for the event) bring down a few vendors from the area to sell some wares, sell food for a few bucks, and send some people through the crowds with buckets and promotional advertisers, explaining the purpose of the drive.

Great PR, wonderful tool for the event. You will have your pretty lil' zolls quicker than you think.

Then, use public grants simultaneously to purchase the PAD's

Also, if anyone needs a PR guy to throw and create drives like this, www.setatraining.org/setaconsultants

  2. So, in reality, we are not permitted to "search" a patient, but we should be adequately "assessing" all patients.

    Interesting concept.

    </sarcasm>

I must ask, cutting pockets whit? For all patients? Searching them? How do you decide who gets searched?

Nevermind, dont answer that. Its a civil rights violation no matter how you cut this.

  3. From my point of view GA has only brought up an issue to be discussed. Throughout he has kept his cool and stuck to the subject he wants to discuss in this thread. I fail to see, at this point, any intent is to troll.

Remember, intelligent debates rather than schoolyard brawls.

    Admin....

This admin, is why I was nice about it. In his original posting, he was clear in his statements about removing of X and R rated films. It is my opinion that the basis of his statements is what I outlined.

That is unacceptable in an open forum. Forums of this nature are meant for productive discussion of beliefs, not the pushing of beliefs, especially for the reasons I outlined originally.

I, admin, fail to see an opening to debate someone who has yet to present an opinion of the topic based in anything but anecdotal opinion, nothing more.

P.S. Trolling comes in many forms.

  4. Ok. A few things.

    1. Porn in the workplace is bad. Violence in the workplace is bad. A damn movie? Grow up. As adults, we are all entitled to a few things. As long as everyone in the workplace is sensative to the opinions of others, why does it matter?

    2. This is now your second post here posted in part to promote your religious beliefs, without promoting religion. A part of EMS is defined by being able to read between the lines to see a patients real issue. Its rather easy to read between the lines here.

    3. This is my last and only nice post. Next time, im going to release the hounds. Stop being a troll and become a productive member of the community.

    Thats all...for now.

  5. We all work in EMS and get paid not near enough...So running a dating service through 911 may not be a bad Idea, and we can make some extra cash.

Press #1 to be handcuffed to Officer Passion

Press #2 to have a firefighter respond with his big hose

Press #3 to have a specialist in Mouth to _________..!

    who is with me??? lmao

Hmmmm...sounds more like a escort service...

  6. I've worked calls in the parking lot of our local trauma center. Staff can't leave the building to respond to a call because they are not insured to pratice nor trained to work in the "pre-hospital" setting. Hospitals have there in house responce teams and such but somtimes we don't always know all the background to why things happen the way they do.

Wasnt a law created by Clinton in 94' requiring hospitals to respond to any patient within 250 feet of their front door?

    anyone?

I seem to remember this as a Rid reference...

  7. So let me understand this, the service has a EMT "rookie" school, is this an EMT class, that the service has and pays you while you attend? or do they hire you and do OJT with some classes?...or are you an EMT already and the have an rookie academy, to fine tune new EMT's?

    R/r 911

Beat me to the punch...your getting quicker in your old age:)

Also, if it is an EMT class, what is the hiring process like? Tell us more.

  8. Nothing like having an extra hunk of metal hanging out your ambulance.

and that is going to stop you from performing your job appropriately?

Your interested in pain management for the patient, but not in using a splint that performs similar amounts of pain management, is the most appropriate for the injury, and avoids pharmalogical pain relief, and the potential side effects.

I have to ask, are you lazy, or simply dont remember how to use the equipment?

  9. You could pull this womans Pj bottoms off or leave her with her self-respect and cut up the seam on the injured side.

As far as a traction splint.... frankly why bother. With that in place you now have tranport issues. Stabilize the injured leg to the uninjured leg. Definetly pain control as lonas BP stable.

    Why bother? Transport issues?

    Please clarify...

  10. Okay, so for all of you that had any doubts about it, settle down.

I bow to the one true para-GOD. There is simply no way to compete with the knowledge that Rid brings to the table. We are all just passing through the EMS existence that Rid has allowed us to have.

Truly impressive that with the amount of information he carries with him, that he is able to get his head off the pillow.

    canigeta amen?

  11. First,

I appreciate as I read this thread to be noted as one of the "educated" members of ther forum. Since my arrival here, ive done my best to provide as much knowledge as I can, while still maintaining enough good sense about my personal knowledge to know i still needed to learn.

This site has improved me in a number of ways, and has given me several provider types to model myself after, which has also served to improve how I balance and operate as a healthcare provider in the field. I truely appreciate the fact that I am respected by my peers, there is nothing better to know within your professional existence that you've reached that plateau.

Special thanks to people like RID, Dust, DitchDoc/Punisher/Medicdiver/(Insert steve alias here)/Ace/Asys....you are in each of your own ways,...the ideal provider. Thank you for sharing yourselves and abilities with us.

Enough of the blah blah....ive got more to add.

    PRPG's list additions.

    1. Guns on ambulances

2 How old is too old

    3. "My (edited) is bigger than your (edited)"

    4. Should EMT's be allowed to ride...

    5. On Top.
