  1. Sorry, didn't read them all, but....

Balance of medical treatment vs. trauma care pt.

Severed limb care for possible reattachment

    OB/ GYN with limited supplies

Treatment of peds. pt's. with "adult" illnesses (I know, kinda specializing)

I ain't woke up yet and coffee has only made to about mid-chest, and I want a cigarette. I'll keep on thinking.

  2. They had to blame someone else other than farting cows.

I had heard the other day of how nature was in a purely balanced state with it's self until man appeared on the scene and it's been going down hill ever since. I thought then that someone with too much time on their hands and a wild imagination got some thesis published.

  3. Heart beat increases, BP prolly goes up, warm feeling in the face and chest.. Happens to me when I'm driving in places that have no signs, and I don't know the speed limit. I have a bumper sticker "What's your Hurry? Is it really worth the loss of your life?".

That's what I was going to say it was. You can get a good adrenaline rush, and a bad adrenaline rush.

The example of seeing your kid jump into frigid water would be enough to make my butt pucker.

  4. I'd only been pulled over once. It was like 03:00 coming back from a coal mine call with a 75 mile drive to go. I'd already been up 19-22 hours and was beat. It was winter, I had the window down and I think "Hotel California" was on the radio. The unit I was in was one of the old suburbans and the speedometer hadn't worked in months. State Trooper pulls me over and had all the yada-yada questions. The he finally came to asking me if I knew I was doing 71 in a 55. I explained the speedometer and even talked shop a little bit. I thought I got out of it. But noooo, and I still had to pay for it. The service still refused to fix the speedometer, until Master Sgt. of the district heard the story. They had it fixed the next day.

  5. If I had the money I certainly would donate. I had two nieces with Cystic Fibrosis and both Shriners and St.Judes helps tremendously. Keirsten passed away nine years ago at nine years old. Sierra is now thirteen and doing very well considering what she's been through.

  6. I'm sorry. Did you just really type this out? Do you honestly believe we should abdicate our Constitutionally protected rights? Do you honestly believe this?

Seriously? Just throw them away? That's what you think he should have done?

    Wow.

    -be safe

I didn't stutter. None of our constitutional rights should be thrown out. Guess I should have said, I would have been more cooperative, not make things more complicated.

When an officer asks something of you or orders you to do something (within reason) you can't just start with saying your rights are being violated because you don't want to or if you don't feel it necessary. I still don't understand why people refuse to let their vehicles be searched if they're not hiding anything. Is the "principle of the thing" really worth going to jail? And having a criminal/arrest record?

Oh, and did I answer whether if I believed him or not, I can't remember. But at this time I will say most of these things may have happened, but not all were completely accurrate on either side.

  7. I just helped my niece with this exact thing for her LPN classes. I was about to bang my head on the table, then suddenly she started to get it straightened out.

One post I was going to make was the North is up there, South is down there, East is over there, and West is across there.

  8. I might have missed something somewhere, but, has there complaints from the public? If it's been more than, let's just say three, tell him that he's on "double secret probation" and one more complaint is grounds for dismissal. IMHO, three public complaints and /or five complaints from co-workers or other professionals would do the trick And DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT.

  9. I have a "friend" that for years now have had achilles tendon/ ankle/ problems, and sometimes feet. It's like having chronic sprained ankles and the tendons constantly painful, just different degrees in pain. Also, more pain of calves. Over the last three years they've kind of snowballed. More pain, more swelling, less degrees of motion.

There is a long history of severe widespread fibromyalgia and all this was contributed to the FM. But lately started to have B-12 shots at home and had a bone scan yesterday. Couldn't get a straigt answer from anyone on what they might be looking for.

Would anyone from here hazard a guess?

  10. chbare had one of the best answers. And on the question of having a pt. with severe facial injuries / fx's, a npa may your only way of obtaining a stable airway. The best would be able to intubate, but if you're not an ALS unit then that might be your only action.

I have heard many "horror" stories of these situations, but I've never heard if any of them were absolutely true or not. Mostly it was stated as a "possible" situation.
