  1. As I read we all have different opinions on this issue and I agree it isn't a dead issue. The certification process and levels do need some work. I run EMS part-time with one system and Volunteer Fire with another on top a full-time job. Most here have valid points on the issues that we face. I'm sure sometime in the future the educational side will make the appropriate changes needed.
  2. Well, We know where you stand if we need advice.. By the way: Nice occupation
  3. Bigj1130, I must clarify a little.. I love working w/ medics in our system. I learn a lot from them. Nothing but respect for them.. The ones on these forums that think they are above it all are the ones I refer to as the "Paragods". Sorry for the confusion.
  4. No contact info, but if anyone is preparing to go. Please be Safe.... I am Scheduled to go from Ohio early next week to relieve one of our crews that are there.... Man it is a big one. I have been watching every hour or two to see what has developed.....
  5. Well, I now have a headache after reading all the complaining about the JUST BASICS not playing the role of being useful in the EMS system. I'm too tired to argue, and It would be pointless. We (Non Paragods) know what you think of us, and I myself could care less. For those Teams out saving lives with us useless basics. We will be there to carry you when you start to fail. "And yes you will one day- Nobody is perfect.. Headed to a new forum.. Bye
  6. P only forgive me if I offend anyone. Some of us "Basics and I's" do this to help our communities. It isn't who's more qualified or IN CHARGE. It is "We are here to help people". At least that's how it should be...
  7. [/font:5bd6e3bb6c] Not in it for the money.. Staying a volunteer.. Those who are paid members are around 9/hr for basic and 12/hr for medic.
  8. [/font:325d4bee13] Yes, nurse along with ya.. That way you and your partner can switch off and sleep.....
  9. [/font:109979c712] I like that... I couldn't agree more...
  10. [/font:1e2fdb8ea3] You'll get there... My friends and family give me some good advice... Don't read to deep into the questions. review steps in your head and last but not least don't second guess youself...
  11. [/font:3239475911] I would have to agree with you.. I also live in a rural area (Central Ohio).. I'm a new EMT-B and just got hired at our local fire district as a volunteer.. We have a Medic at all three of our county stations at times a total of four. Our Fire and EMS is not joined, but most of our 6 county fire stations also have a medic on most of the time.. To not have anything higher than an EMT-I would be.. Well lets say NUTS!! I feel for you and your team.. Hopefully the powers that be will realize someday how much more could be done in the level of care and remedy the problem.. In the mean time drive on..
