  1. Mmmmm.. easy to be on the outside looking in unless your employed by said company. Love my job, and there is a wealth of thing's that can be improved, AMR put's food on my table feed's my kid's and pay's my bill's, doesn't mean that I'm happy with the way the company is run from a employee's perspective. I won't even bother to get into company profit and billing and so on... that's not my realm, I'm a paramedic... period, and the trend seem's to be leaning toward senior , experienced health care provider's leaving for greener pastures. So the short of it... AMR westcoast/midwest...yes AMR east coast ...No
  2. This is problem and has been for quite some time. It get's frustrating hearing all the good about the west coast division's wile the east coast seem's to be floundering.
  3. If you want to label dedicated employee's that are professional, do their job well, and consider themself an asset to the community that are looking for just a little bit of respect from their employer, either by a simple thank you maybe , or by replacing one 19 y.o stair chair a month...that no matter what amount of maintenece is done to it, need's to be replaced just do to it's age alone as "idealist" ?? unless you have walked in the proverbial AMR boot's that the vast majority of people have been on the east coast.. then I would tend to say your opinion of an "idealist employee" means nothing.
  4. Nail on the head :!: Same goes for all the road safety BullS%$t they installed on the truck's, So they can prove 100% without a doubt that the operator was at fault should a accident occur. I'm sure it cut down on their insurance as well but it still wont take the stupid out of some people's driving habits. God forbid they would install some laptop's in the truck's to make thing's a little more "marketable" for future employee's in this area not to mention the fact that it speed's up the billing process and they can get that shiny coin in their greedy little hand so much quicker.
  5. It means allot to the AMR branches that have truck's that have 300,000 plus miles on them still in service in 911 communities, that have stair chair's, stretcher's, board splint's,traction splint's etc. from companies that they aquired 10 and 15 year's ago. A maintenance dept. that uses's Bondo as a favorite tool so the vehicle's can pass state inspection, supervisor's that do not and will not go "above and beyond" to do anything for their fellow employee's due to pressure from upper management being disgruntled about a majority vote in for a union. ( another story all together  ) I love my job with all my heart but I'm ashamed some day's to put my uniform on... I know.. LEAVE! but after 18 plus years (seniority after aquisition's) I cant move due to money reason's. Oh and with that being said and all the time there ...I have yet to see us gain ONE new 911 contract
  6. I cant due to the fact that I was just being foolish
  7. CP W/suspected CVA [-X
  8. If your looking to work for a company that values you not only as an employee, but as a pilar of the community, a health care professional and a valued public servant.... DON'T! work for AMR!
  9. 14 call's in 24hrs, backed up on 3-4 run report's till about 1am, got out 1.5 hrs late. And I was promised ALS naptime...WTF!?
  10. It crossed my mind but I got busy doing other thing's and then we were there. Did I mention this was my first solo Medic shift ?
  11. Bored  Did a right side too but no copy... was evolving and had quite a bit more elevation on the last tracing but here's the the first one 6 hrs later Pt. # 2
  12. Thank's for those! I know there's a site somewhere, I just cant seem to find it. My last attempt at the fire exam this April. Ive been trying to get on for the last 15 years or so. With lot's of family history in the fire dept. on the north shore... not being a Vet. etc. It's been next to impossible to get a foot hold with civil service but now that I'm a Medic , I figure that will help a lil
  13. Just wondering if anyone know's of or has a list of Massachusetts fire dept's that provide ALS ?
  14. Blackhawk FTW! http://www.copsplus.com/prodnum3328.php
  15. takin the easy road 8) http://www.mass.gov/Eeohhs2/docs/dph/emerg...prehospital.pdf
  16. The same is/has happened in the North East division as well and it's not getting better. Lost contract's, broken promises Etc.. And so much for their "Patient focused, care giver inspired" slogan ... the have turned it into "money focused, budget inspired" my hire date is 1990 and I have yet to see us gain one 911 contract in the last 18 years, only lost contratcs . I'm interviewing with two other privates after the first of the year.... so long AMR...it's been fun... But thats just one bitter Paramedics voice
  17. The ALS upgrade test's sucked! Dunno about the BLS..I was grandfathered in and never had to take them.
  18. I thought it was 86.4%? oh well I think the gain was just up to high and it's actually just sinus tach  kidding, But Im not seeing SVT in that in any way nor would I treat it like that.. but that's just my eye's
  19. AHHhh yes, the slow manual push!.... .25mg----------- .25-----------.25---------- (pot hole) .5mg 50 and 100 bags find there way in my pocket if I see them laying around someplace but we don't stock them.. wish we did. and I have done the Burette a few time's with good success. I just hate having one hand married for ten minutes with the push.
  20. Let's see... My Daughter was born 3 month's into class... not to mention I already had a 2yo at home. Our Director was fired, our class room was moved two miles away....then our Instructor was fired and in the middle of it all after we had memorized 3/4 of our drug manual they changed it. We started out with 21 students and graduated with 11 (yes I was one of them ) good times! :?
