I don't understand why everyone always gets so heated in conversations like these that concern gays, religion, politics, and what ever else you want it to be. I see it as I have my opinion and you have yours. Just because I might believe in God and someone else might not, or I am not gay does not mean I am any better then the next person. I belive it is that persons right to do as they please as long as it doesn't hurt anyone. Just think about it.

The area and the squad in which I work for we are well enough trained that we don't have the mother may I system in place. Other areas around us some of which do have that system in place I see their pt's suffer from it. I do however understand how it is a good thing for some ems agencies to have if they are not well enough trained in their skills to know what to do in emergency situations. If this applies to you then I feel deeply sorry for your pt's, because of the extended time the care is delayed. Because as we all know in our line of work seconds mean the difference between life and death.

We at our squad also carry it. I am not a big fan of it mainly because I guess I have no patients. lol. I would much rather give D-50, but I do believe it is a good back up in case you are unable to gain I.V. access.
