  1. Mmmm... actually I don't think that their PCP/EMT Program is approved. They are registered but not yet approved. I have not heard good thing about the program, but who knows. My repeated advice is to visit at least 3 schools and ask a ton of questions. And ask what their last recorded pass rate at ACP was. Good luck.
  2. Mt Royal has offered courses in the past as well. I know that the major urban areas (Calgary/Edmonton) require that you take a very specific program (there are 2, I believe, and 1 of them isn't accepted). Calgary dispatch was paying $23 or so a few years ago... but I know that since the amalgamation of dispatch (to fire/police/ems) most staff are miserable, management is frustrating everyone, and the process to get hired sucks (good luck with the polygraph). However, I know there are many rural areas that have been hiring dispatch lately. Good luck.
  3. Hmm, the only thing to remember is that in most cases EMT-B is often equivalent to our EMR, NOT our EMT-A. (Speaking from the Alberta perspective). I know when I did EMR (in Calgary) we used an EMT-B (US) textbook. Check out www.collegeofparamedics.org - click on Continuing Competence and then download the AOCPs from EMR/EMT/EMT-P and check out the scope.
