  1. Since my last post looking for old equipment, I have been graced with a few contributions. Now I'm looking to get some information. I had a Becton Dickson Stat VI defibrillator donated, anyone know when they were made or anything else about them? Also picked up a Datascope M/D3A defib, looking for info on it's manufacture date also. I tried both companies websites but they don't seem to want to poney up any info. Also got a MRL 450 SL and a MRL 360 XL. Looking for the same info on these as well. The last defib I got was a Litegaurd 9. It's a big old ugly thing, made by TemTech. If anyone out there knows any info on these, I would appreciate it. I did finally get my hands on a biophone! It cost me but it was well worth it. I have also aqquired a LifePak 10. Again, thanks to all of you for your help in my previous posts for old equipment, including the donation of an old Dynamed smock. Dan
  2. Wow! Now that theres entertainment Clark.
  3. The last one we bought at the firehouse was biphasic, we had the older LP-12 upgraded from monophasic to biphasic.
  4. Thanks everyone for the replies. Youd think after 15 years of doing this I'd get used to people not doing CPR and just standing around with their thumbs up their keister, and I suppose I have. I'm just dumbfounded that people wouldn't or could'nt help a person who needs help. I guess as long as there are people like that around, we'll all have jobs.
  5. Why is it people just can't seem to learn CPR. My crew was sent on a unresponsive person this evening, by the time we got there, he had already been down 10 minutes (our response time was a little over 2 minutes from the time of dispatch to on scene). This guy was blue, and all bis buddys are standing around crying and telling us to hurry. I asked if anyone had done CPR, they answered no. Man, dont let me have a cardiac arrest around these folks. I mean seriously, how hard is it to learn CPR? I teach it here at the firehouse and everyone seems to pass. Oh well, just needed to vent. :x
  6. I think becsdad hit the nail on the head also. Very good response. I wish I would have mentioned driving first. Although I have worked with some excellent EMTs, most of whom were older than myself and had been doing this longer than me, I worked with one younger EMT I could not stand. He was sloppy- his shirt always untucked, a dirty ball cap on his head. He didn't care for the patient, called most of them his"losers of the day". This guy had no medical skills whatsoever. He couldn't even operate an airsplint. He drove like a maniac riding on peoples bumpers and flashing his headlights if they wouldn't get out of his way, then he would cuss and flip them off. Real proffesional. This cat was a manic depresive to boot. He was always depressed about his life, wife, girlfriend, money or lack of it. The company we worked for refused to fire him because he was a warm body able to drive a truck, no mater how bad he drove. He would spend most of his day daydreaming about apoening a strip club and buying crap for his little Jap riceburner. The topper was the nite he wouldn't get up for calls. I finally got his assholiness out of his bunk to get to a call and what does he do, pops a Percocet right in front of me, then brags about it being his 5th one of the day. I had to take the truck out of service, miss a call. The company lost money that night so they finally fired the loser. I think he works at Burger King these days.
  7. Just learn to be a good EMT. I have worked with some EMTs who were great to work with.
  8. WOW! I aint never seen anything like that. Those are impressive.
  9. I'd ike to see pictures of that stuff. I was searching around the firehouse today looking for an old LifePak 5 battery I thought we had lying around, but it must have been thrown out. It was one of those old batteries that actually had "LifePak 5" writen on the top in orange letters. I wish people would stop throwing those goodies away so I could put them in my display.
  10. I remember how totally blown away we were by the Lifepak 5s when they came out around 1976. They were so light and compact. Now we're back to carrying huge, worthless pieces of crap again (coughlifepak12coughcough). Funny how things come full circle. We have the LP 12 also, it weighs a ton. We are thinking of swithching to the new Phillips monitor. It's really nice and weighs a couple of pounds less than the LP-12 but is still heavy. My chief remebers when the LP5s came out. He said they were using the old LP 4 and couldn't wait to get their new LP 5.
  11. Hi guys, and gal emtkelly, I'm glad you like the display, I think the shirt made it! Dustdevil,The dynamed boxes I have are orange and blue. I got one of each. Alpha, The Pneolator I bought at the fire muster this summer. I had to pay $40.00 for it but it had all of it's parts and was like new. I'd like to find a E&J Rescusitator to add to the display. When I bought one of the Dynamed boxes, it was full of stuff. I found 2 ring cutters and one of those old plastic jaw screws! I had the jaw screw displayed on the table with the cardboard foldouts. I got some of the old Philli collars in the truck. I picked up some kind of head immobilizer that went with the Philli. It attatched to it and strapped around the patient's head. That's kinda funky. The Thumper was a big hit also. I filled up the squads O2 tank and used the thumper on the departments ALS manikin. It scared the bujesus out of a bunch of little kids.
  12. I've never been offered the chance to go back to the tent, but most of those women have more leg hair than I do so I'd have to say no.
  13. God I love the Hippies. It's good to know that their the same down under as they are up here.....STUPID! As I always say though, if it werent for stupid peopleI'd be out of a job. But seriously, we have had many interesting runs on the hippies. They love their mushrooms! The young hippies arent as smart as the older hippies. They don't know how to moderate their drugs. 6 ounces of majic mushrooms is not good! The kids at the Insane Clown Posse concerts are better. They moderate everything. They seem to mostly drink alot of alcohol. We kept extreemly buisy with them, but it was mostly injuries or the occasional hypoglycemia. The hippies up here are anti everything. They dislike the government, law enforcement, and even EMS if we mess withh their buzz.
  14. I have two of those. I picked them up a t a fire muster for $5.00 each. Both are in great shape.
  15. You know exactly what I'm talking about. The events we work are in the summer also. Its hot and everyone is drugged out. There are only 6 of us working most of these events, and usually 4000 to 8000 people attending. They camp out at these "festivals" so the fun never stops.
  16. Dustdevil, Glad you enjoyed them. It was a good show and everybody seemed to enjoy it. I have other pictures and will be posting them when I get home from work. I'm still working on the collection of stuff.I have two LP-5's, one with the recorder and one without, and two different MRLs. I've got all kinds of old crap inthe squad also.
  17. I never thought I would have a EMS display, it started out as a firefighting collection, but just seemed to turn into EMS. But I'm OK with that. I bought a couple of those big arse MRL's on ebay last fall. I only needed one and sold the other. I actually used one in 1995 at Haller Ambulance in Chillicothe Ohio. They replaced it with a LP-5! I have an old squad, but it's only a 86. It's like what I started in. I've got it equipped with stuff from the 80's, but I'd like to get a biophone!!! I've got some pictures of our open house in my profile you can check out.
  18. Man I wished you were home. You sound like me, got about everything ever invented under the sun stashed in the garage. Give me a shout when you get back, whenever that may be. Mabee we can work a few deals. I hope your not still asking $1000 for the old biophones though.
  19. Forget last message, I must have been smokin crack or something!? But if anyone out there does have one, let me know, I would like to have one.
  20. If you want to sell one, email me a piture and let me know your price. I would like to have one. Dan
  21. The races are fun. We never did any car races, but we covered a supercross race for a couple of years. I love the smell of high performance2 cycle gas.
  22. I was wondering if anyone else out there works any concert venues? A buddy of mine owns a company here in central Ohio called Event Services. We do alot of concerts. We usually do the weekend long concerts like the Ekoostic Hookah shows or Insane Clown Posse shows. These shows last 2 to 3 days (ICP lasted 5 days). It's not a bad part time gig, but can be a bit hectic depending on what drugs are being done in the crowd and if the patients decide to become violent (thats always fun.....Not!).
  23. I have worked with many nurses, and have found about 99.539 % to be top notch. I know alot of nurses here in Ohio who work at rural hospitals whom I would entrust the lives of my children. I wonder if they were hollering on systemlords radio because they knew the poor woman was circling the drain and needed to get to a larger hospital FAST? Just a little food for thought. I also wonder if they have medical helicopters where systemlord works? That seems like an awfully far trip in the back of an ambulance.
  24. That would be great. I borrowed one from a friend of mine for the display I had this weekend at the firehouse, but he won't part with it.
