Illinois awards no bid contract to EMT testing company

Recommended Posts

Poor Illinois! They could not teach well enough to have their medics pass the national standards, that several of the F.D. felt like their recruits and students should not adhere to learning material and medical cases that may not be seen in Illinois.

This is a tragedy that they consider spending the money of development of tests, testing centers, etc.. and then blame that the NREMT is too costly and does not enough testing centers ? Hmm .. I believe if you have a computer and testing center NREMT can test you there...so that is an invalid statement. I can assure you, the development and up-keep and validity of tests will costs a lot more than purchasing the NREMT examination. Excuses that is all that is.

Illinois your shortage is not caused by not enough testing centers, or even the costs of the NREMT exam (which is one of the cheapest national medical certifications). We have been watching your whining and excuses for over a year now of how your medics "do not need to know" things. Let's face it, you want to make it simple and easy so you can fill spots with poorly educated patch card toking personal.

Personally, I hope the rest of the states take notice and do not honor or recognize any of your programs and testing. Therefore will not allow reciprocity. So when you are trained there you must remain there.... no one else wants "restricted education". When a person completes a medical program they should know how to treat in various regions, areas, and medical complaints, even if not a common occurrence in their locale.

So, how do we, as EMT's and Paramedics change this? I hear a lot of complaints about IL EMS and frankly, it makes me nervous to even admit where I am from on this forum. If someone can help us or direct us as to who we should speak to, I would appreciate it. I would like to become a part of the solution instead of living with the problem.

Edtited for clarity.
