Due to current budget cuts you are allowed only 6 items to use on any given run they will be replaced if used and cost of each item is not a problem but you only get 6 what would they be.

I only need two things supplied which are essential to every shift - Doughnuts and a playboy magazine. LOL

Seriously though I'm gunna choose;

1) PPE

2) O2

3) BVM

4) Defib / Monitor

5) Medication kit

6) Triangular bandages

Perhaps it may be easier to just go to a different service!!!

Thats a tough one dude.

Off the cuff I would say:

O2

BVM

Catheters

Fluids

Monitor (pads)

Glucometer

I could improvise badages and splints if pressed. If C spine was an issue, someone would just have to hold it. If airway is compromised, could do a cric with O2 tubing and BVM.

That's off the top of my head. I might change my mind later and change out the monitor for a BP cuff or something else. Can't really do the job with just six things.

I would be interested to hear your theory on why the glucometer was included.

Because it rules in or out a reversable cause of several major S/S. I suppose you could look for the fifty thousand needle sticks in the pts fingertips, but that's not always gonna be there if they stick somewhere else and it doesn't tell you how high or how low. Diabetes is more common in this region than in most other parts of the country. The glucometer has helped me here almost as much as any other tool I've got.

And the catheters too.

Are you giving a lot of Lasix in your system or something? :o
