Degree after medic school...

Recommended Posts

Im going to a private paramedic school, so most of those programs can't apply to me.

Actually, many do. If you are licensed/registered/certified, and can show them your syllabus or hour/curriculum breakdown, many colleges still give you credit for paramedic school, which is about 30 to 40 hours (1 year) of credit. In fact, most AAS programmes that I know of do this. Don't sell yourself short. Find a school that will give you credit.

Although, when it comes to nursing, I would agree that anything that sounds too good to be true probably is. You may end up with a quick degree, but you'll look like a complete idiot for your first two years of practice because everybody will be able to tell that you didn't go to a real nursing school. It is painfully obvious in those grads. There is nothing from medic school that really transfers into nursing education. They are so astonishingly different that being even a super medic doesn't really help you in nursing school or practice.

By the way, your avatar pic rocks!

Ill have to look into it at my school. If I could get some credit for it that would be great. I'm starting to regret getting into a private program due to the cost and the fact that it's not a sure thing I'll get credit for it like at a JC. Live and learn I suppose.

As for the nursing thing, I can definitely see that happening. You can always tell a person that either zipped through EMT school, or didn't learn anything in the process. You can tell those people that do things similar to that just in general, and I don't wanna be that guy!

Thanks Dust, haha I like it too!

I actually just got a wild hair up my ass to look into the Coast Guard. Haha....to me this sounds completely random, but my mind bounces around so much I almost expect things like that.

I'm probably going to go post another thread about it in Non-EMS discussion, so if you have any advice go look for it please!
