Wondering if this is normal

Recommended Posts

I have been on a wait list for a position with a very good hospital in our area and called to check on a job with them other day. They said they had just referred my name to a hiring manager so I am hoping for an interview with them soon.

I am going to address my manager at the current company and tell her that I cannot work this way and perhaps it would be better if I went to a part time basis. Between my other job with the local ambulance company and there I am sure I would make it ok.

Still, I hate to see their practices still continue. I have had a couple employees say they would support me if I went to talk to the labor board about them and see what we can do from there. But I feel it would be more professional to talk to them about thier practices before taking such measures.

good luck on that.

I would approach management with your concerns and suggestions prior to going to the labor board. Once you go that step then you cannot go back and it's immediately a adversarial relationship between management and employees.

Get with a group of your peers and co-workers. Set out a plan of action that is implementable and present it to the management.

Please PM me, I did this at a previous employer and it worked but you have to have a plan.

PM me and we can chat

Since you were here before under different name I don't have to play nice. One word spellcheck.

when someone comes in with 2 posts requesting all the info and the person to IM them I immediately think it's the boss who just joined to get info on the situation in order to fire or discipline that person.

Be careful.

and by the way when were proper sentences required here?

Give reasonable attention to your grammar. Although we want to maintain a casual atmosphere here, this is ultimately a PROFESSIONAL forum where members of the public are free to read and draw conclusions about us as a profession. There is an automatic spell checker provided on this forum. Please use it. Do not post messages that appear as if they were taken from a 13 year old girl's AOL chat. "You" is spelled YOU, not "u." "Whatever" is spelled WHATEVER, not "w/e." And punctuation is extremely important to those trying to understand your statements. If you are too pressed for time to type legibly and using punctuation and capitalization, then please come back later when you have more time. AND NEVER POST IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS!

On 24 hour shifts, we're expected to be able to stay up the entire shift actively working back to back. Only some stations are actually busy enough where this happens on a regular basis. Same applies if you do a 48 or 72 hour shift.
