  1. The biggest difference is in Europe, mainly Germany, France, Netherlands, etc they bring the hospital to the patient as opposed to stabilize and transport. It may work for them but their systems don't have EMT's trained at nearly the same level we do. True they got nurses and Doc's but hey, look at the Princess Di crash, can you imagine us EMS folks in the US or Canada hangin on a trauma crash scene like they did for > 45 minutes? She did'nt die till they finally decided to book with her, Anyway my point is if our country and Canada was only as big as some of these countries yea we could probably have an across the board sysytem but it aint gonna happen in my opinion. In Europe the Doc is God & all the other underlings dont do nuthin till a doc says so.Thats been my experience in Germany & some other places. They do have some very good folks and certainly we could take some ideas to use. Ok thanks for the post.
  2. Thank you for the reply. We knew we would move out to LV in Aug. & now we are 100% sure. I have family there but not in the business to know EMS business. Yes I have been to cchd website and I know in LV ya gotta have a sponsor first then do the state thing. I have the protocols & they seem pretty standard but I will have to decide on one service or the other. Seems like the same ole song & dance where ever you go with respect to services. Oh well thanks again for your reply I am still in the gathering stage & have heard both good/bad about both services. Ultimately it will probably come down to money & benifits as I have been doing this a bit and the medicine is the easy part. It's getting to know the lay of the land who's who who's where what's where and getting around all the self important folks etc etc Again, thanks, Lin
  3. Well we are moving to LV and I am trying to get a handle on the EMS scene there. Here's what I have so far & I'd appreciate any additional info so I can make a more informed decision about where to work. Seems there are 2 services both do 911 and split the zones. AMR is one & Medic West is the other. AMR offers more bonus & relocation. Medic West website is mostly under construction so not alot of info about those folks. We will be moving end of Nov. I have already checked the state requirements for reciprocity. Not a big hoop to jump thru so no problem there. If anyone can please offer some info I'd sure appreciate it. Please answer here or drop me a line at my yahoo address. Thank you kindly! Lin
  4. I'd be interested what kind of monitor you were using and if it was a LP 10 11 or 12 did you have it in diagnostic mode for this recording? Also, you need a 12 lead to really get a more accurate handle on this. I understand you state you dont have 12 lead capabilities so if thats the case you just gotta go with pt assessment, Hx, etc etc Pt chief complaint coupled with findings and get him to a definitive care facility. Did you have a bunch of these strips to compare? It's intersting to see all the responses to your 3 lead strip. Thank you.
