"Also, I'd like to say, show me an EMT who is willing to jump at the chance to end someone's life and I'll show you one who's never seen someone take their last breath."

I have seen many people young and old take their last breath. Some of them were very good people. Some of them were not. I did the best I could do and some of them lived to breathe more and some of them didn't.

This is not about people having an emergency. This is about people who have killed men, women, and children. People who have done unspeakable things to innocent children. I recall one on the news about a man who kidnapped, raped, and BURIED HIS 4 YEAR OLD VICTIM ALIVE! Do these sick twisted f*cks deserve any pity or mercy? No! Is incarcerating them for the rest of their wretched miserable lives going to help them? No! Get them off the same earth/plane/dimension as me, my wife, kids, family, friends, and everyone else! The sooner the better.

Now I can say that I wouldn't be opposed to not killing these pieces of sh*t if they received a beating once a day while they're in the slammer. Instead, they get three hots and a cot, cable, education, etc. while I'm scraping and borrowing money for food for my kids. There are elderly who have to choose between meds, heat, and food. Why is this loser scumwaffle more comfortable than them? These people should have considered Primum Non Nocere before they killed a family of six with a dull hatchet after making them watch their mom get raped repeatedly.

I know I'm not going to change anyone's opinion about the death penalty.

Plus, I believe I have seen an article about Paramedics being able to administer the death penalty in Texas.

If your state needs someone to knock off some of these scumbags, drop me a line.

  2. As was mentioned, I do believe that that boils down to personal feelings about the death penalty. As far as the scope of practice goes, it is continually expanding. I've transferred patients with thrombolytics, whole blood, paralytics, etc., why not the sedative, paralytic, and potassium used for lethal injections. From the shows I've seen, the medications can be adminstered by a machine. So an IV is started, and a button is pushed.

I do not intend to offend anyone here that believes the death penalty is wrong. Good for you on not being silent about what you believe in.

I am also aware that unfortunately, due to glitches in the judicial system, "innocent" people have been executed. I say "innocent" because they usually have a mile long record. Still not justifiable. Corrupt officials, law enforcement, prosecutors, and inept defense attorneys can also make this possible. I cannot or will not defend these cases.

I also see the point in saying that we are to help people, not kill them. It makes us look bad, etc. The executioner is not usually paraded around in uniform before administering the penalty of death. Think of the hooded axemen.

Now, it's time for my opinion. I stress that. My opinion.

By all means, sign me up! I'd be more than happy to put down a few baby rapers/killers! Line 'em up and I'll run an assembly line! What? You raped and killed fifteen women then dismembered them and scattered their remains? Well, then you don't even deserve the sedative or paralytic! I'm pretty sure the victims didn't get to be with their families for the last hours/days of their lives nor have a "last meal". They probably begged for their lives! Matter of fact, for the serial rapists and child molesters, I'll save the state the money. All I'll need is two eight foot backboard straps, a pneumatic framing nailer, and a baseball bat. I'll give them what they deserve. Miserable, sick f*cks.

Yes, I'm twisted. Yes, people are saying this is sick. Apparently jail doesn't deter some and it's been determined that pedophiles cannot be rehabilitated. Perhaps a gruesome execution or two would keep someone's pants on and away from the playgrounds.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programme!

  3. vs-eh? could you please elaborate on the hesitation on ETI for a GHB OD? Thanks.

Also, concerning other items, has anyone ever flushed their own eyes with 0.9% Saline? Try it sometime! The equivalent is to pour a pint of El Toro tequilla in your eye. If you don't have it already, get some solution meant to flush the eyes.

  4. "You can't leave! All the plants will die!"

"I'm bigger than you! I'm higher on the food chain! Get in my belly!"

"What exactly does the 'B' stand for in F + B?" (Old dogs, don't give this one away. OK? Let's let the young ones figure this one out!)

  5. My apologies for making you think I was inferring that gays or women have no souls. I did not mean to infer that.

I was being (and still am) a politically incorrect smart *ss.

R/r: your post about treating persons with faith like morons was eloquent to say the least. Perhaps this dog can learn from the old dog how to say things in better fashion!

Peace and love! Even to you vs-eh?

  6. I am obviously as open minded as you are.

I can admire Jehovah's Witnesses. I had some for in-laws for almost ten years. I admire their determination despite not being favorably looked upon. They made me ponder things.

I'm sorry. God in male. Is that better?

Hipocrite? Wow that hurts. You're a poopoo doody head!

    Later!

  7. Oh dear God, you guys can rip on me for this until the end of time...

3 a.m. Call for an unresponsive female. Show up, cops are there, they've been there for 20 minutes trying to wake her up. She's been on a bender and may have O.D.'d. Sternal rub gets nothing, room air p/ox by rescue shows 85%. NRB. Pt to cot, patient wakes up and begins to fight. Manually restrain her, she goes "unconscious" again. I take vitals and think about transporting another drunk that tried to O.D. again.

I notice her toes and how freaky long they are. I turn to my partner and say something to the effect that she should be able to write with her toes, etc. Nothing extremly bad.

Well, guess what? She was faking unresponsiveness! Yes sir! One medic made to look like an *sshole!

Yes, I did it. I admit it. It was unprofessional and I was a schmuck. I don't feel quite as bad considering the ER doc referred to her as "that scrawny whiny b*tch that always comes here and whines".

I was just being stupid is all.

There. That should give you all something to pick on me about for awhile.

  8. Wow vs-eh, you're a very bitter negative person. It tends to p*ss me off when pseudo-intellectuals talk down to people who believe in God, a higher power, an omnipotent being or what have you. These people rant and rave about God not existing and the several thousand ways to say that He (yes, God is a man) doesn't exist. Even though they tend to be more annoying than Jehovah's Witnesses on a early Saturday morning.

For every argument against, there are at least one for. It all ties down to one word:

    Faith

There are those who believe if they can't see it, then it can't exist. These are usually the same people trying to make their lives happier by buying stuff to fill any empty voids in their lives because of faithlessness, parents didn't show them enough love, etc. They will have children who will only know love by what people buy them.

The nonsensical babble about keys being God is a circular way of "The Wookie Defense" used in a particularly good episode of South Park. If you don't know what I mean, expand your mind and watch it. If you're not above it that is.

Does God exist? Yes. Am I a model Christian? Absolutely not. I am the farthest thing from it.

If you can look at a rose, a child being born, or a beautiful naked woman and think that there is no God that's fine, you must have no soul. Or you're a woman or gay.

  9. I have never heard of a tactical medic course in Michigan.

I am a member of a new local "incident response team" in Northwest Michigan. We had courses held by HSS International at our station which included lecture and practical. We are attempting (with some resistance) to be part of a support/search team for incidents such as hostage standoffs, school shootings, etc.

While it was a good program, our instructor was rather long winded and loved to go off on tangents like, "there was this one time when we were serving a warrant..."

I would suggest going to the international tactical EMS website. I THINK its: www.items.com or perhaps .org I can't quite remember.

    Good luck!

  10. If a patient can be rescuscitated long enough for their family to come in, say goodbye, and be there with them when they die, then my job is done.

The family can also have peace in knowing that everything was done for their family member.

Philosophy - schmilosophy. It ain't rocket science!

  11. I recently had a call for a 17 y/o female in seizure. F.D. on scene stated she was in full seizure on their arrival, lasted a few minutes, then subsided. On our arrival, patient was unresponsive to pain and appeared postictal. According to F.D. patient has a history of seizures. I still believe I have run on her before for the same.

Upon getting the patient in the ambulance: monitor, vitals, etc. She started to have a seizure which started in the head and neck and gradually worked itself down through her torso with not a lot of extreme movement in her arms and legs.

Gave her 5 mg valium, then 5 mg more which cause the seizures to cease. While calling in the radio report to the hospital, the patient had another seizure. I advised the ED that I was going to go with Versed. 5 mg of Versed later, the seizure stopped.

Out at ED, one of the "old dog" nurses recognized her for a previous c/c of seizure.

I learned later that they were under the impression that she was faking all of the seizures and they were trying to GOMER her.

I have had others that were accused of faking, then lab tests confirmed that they did have seizures. (I can't remember what the test was for. Myoglobin?)

I really think that some EDs are too quick to call a seizure fake just because either they don't see the seizure, or the patient's seizure doesn't fit into their mindset of what a seizure should look like.

Ya do the best wit' watcha got!

  12. When we were first together, my spouse had a fear of blood, and never liked to hear about the bad traumas or cardiac arrests.

After being married to a medic for 3 1/2 years, I was recently telling her about a self inflicted GSW to the head I ran on that initially didn't accomplish his goal of self-termination.

When I told her about running on a guy that shot himself in the head her response was, "Did he do it right?"

Even the spouses can get used to it!
