To Tniuqs - Thanks for finding my coffee. Seems like a long road trip to get it back.
To BVESBC - 1. Since you seem to be indicating you have knowledge of equipment to lift Ms really Big to the power assisted cot. Please let me know what equipment we should use to lift MS Really Big who fell in an almost prone position between two brick walls with a 28" separation between the walls. After lifting them to a power assisted cot life is great, it is just getting the large person to that piece of equipment that's the problem. 2. Do not slam the people I work with you do not know them nor do you know our lifestyles. 3. Since it is apparent you can not do a Blood sugar check, I deduce your Medical Control is afraid you will stick your finger instead of the patient's

Getting back to the original post.
Some ideas for EMS research would include:
1. Means to better lift the severely obese patient.
2. Means to reduce injuries to EMS staff.
3. Means to be able to get military field procedures into practice on the civilan side.

Instead of accepting a tip, suggest that a donation be made to the Service provider (company) with a note acknowledging the fine work the crew did. Then there is no violation of company regulations

No matter what you carry on your person, let your partner know what you have and where it is located. At a recent MVA, my shears came out out my pocket, as did my pen light, pad, pen and gloves all the while I was holding c-spine on one of the many patients

I took PHTLS in Evansvill, IN and found it a great course. I strongly recommend that course for all in EMS

I talked with my other half after I posted and found out why the wall is up. Simply put, she cares too much
-
My other half has told me that is not her life. What she wants to know is:
1. what is my schedule
2. call or have someone call if I am going to be late
3. Did I deposit the check
4. What food did I take from the house.
Funny thing is, my other half is a real good first aider and is requested to help at various Scouting events and on trail maintenance work days.
Oh well that's life

911 has provided each ambulance, police car and fire truck with two loose leave books. One book gives the physical description of the residence, ie white two story sitting on top of hill with long drive. The second book allows the user to look up address, that references the user to a page to see that section of the county map. Both have proved useful to us.

1. A thank you card from a family we got into a serious arguement with regarding patient care.
2. A sense of family where I work
3. The people I met at EMT City. They have helped a lot with information and when needed a boot in the a$$

I prefer the King LT over the Combitube. However, our protocols require the Combitube.
The preference is based on ease of use.

To help one of the employees to overcome his color blindness, the Pedi bag and ruler have the colors printed on each section of the strip and on each section of the Pedi bag. So his color blindness does not hinder him

My partner did not like the idea of me amputating anything. My partner did report the incident as an exposure and did have the ER treat. Just trying to find out if there are other protocols to follow
But will try to convince my partner that amputating is the best bet

We responded to a patient with respiratory MSRA. While in the Pt's home my partner cut herself.
Would this be considered an exposure similar to a needle stick?
If so what should my partner do?

What ever method you decide to use, I strongly recommend the use of heavy duty leather gloves when punching the window

Add the following to what I carry
one small pencil ( both ink pens died when trying to take notes)
CPR microshield ( talked with a crew from another service. They went to a call for one problem and ended up with two different patients. The second patient went into respiratory distress and one of the crew members started mouth to mouth without mask or shield)

Illinois will send your license after they receive the results from NREMT. Usually takes four to six weeks after NREMT notifies you that you passed

This information is from Scott R. Ballard, District 23 Natural Heritage Biologist from Illinois.

Dear Scott,
Thank you for putting on a great presentation on October 17, 2006 at
Heartland Regional Hospital.
One question - Which Illinois counties did you say had native
scorpions?
Sincerely,
Gerald Bozman
EMT-B
Gerald, those counties are Monroe and Randolph. Glad you enjoyed the
program last night.

Illinois wants to have their own test for one simple reason and that is money! The politicans want more money to come to the State.
