  1. Oh come on, don't be so hard. Just remember, EMS means Eat More Sandwiches.

Ha Ha or E.M.S Earn Money Sleeping, But I work in Chicago so we do not get much sleep I wish we did sometimes.

This is the worst show on Emergency Medicine I have ever seen or will ever see again hopefully, but that is just my opinion on this matter, it is about as far from how things actually go as it can be and way way fictional even though it leads a borderline functional needs person to think it is real and you would have to be functional needs aptitude to believe that this show is really how things go in the field. It shines such a bad light and shows us in a incompetent way and that is to bad.

  2. You will be fine my friend, you are going to see that there are a lot of people in this field that would like to see you fail for reasons such as envy towards you for the way you work, look, communicate for what you know and the reasons can go on and on the best thing to do is C.Y.A ( cover your A** ) and your partners, work very diligently and all those haters will see that you are very capable of doing your job.

There is a lot of shock factor that goes into are line of work as far as what your calls entail the more you work the less surprised you are but there is always that call no matter how well or long you have been working will shock and make you question your methods but that is why you are with someone ( your partner ) that you can bounce interventions off to make sure you are in the right and it is the best interest for the PT, I work in Chicago the Englewood and Roseland are and both areas are very high trauma places that if it was not for the great work of both me and my partner a lot off calls would of not went the way they did, try to find that person that has your back and you guys just groove at the scene and deliver great PT care your partner I found out my first few months on the job means the world out there so try and find that one person that will help you instead of put you down and things will be great for you my friend, keep on chugging and if you ever need to vent hit me up on PM anytime.

Good luck, and just block out the rudeness and take care.

  3. Being over confident in your work and getting complacent, Not doing a full assessment every 5 for a non-stable P/T and not seeing something you missed in the initial and secondary.. Not paying attention enough to SPO2 sat and thinking your P/T is just getting sleepy..

  4. I'm reaching out because a friend of mine needs some help !!!!

His wife told him to go out and get some of those pills that would help him get an erection.

When he came back, he tossed her some diet pills.

Anyway, he's looking for a place to live.

    Can you help him ????

Oh man talk about nailing shut your own coffin...LOL

  5. Imo I think you did the correct intervention .. if NRB was not tolerated I would of went with canulla and blow by as last resort .. the most important thing was to stop constriction and get SpO2 to come back up above 95 if that was achieved great job ..

    I'll wager a bet the CC is the one with all the whacker lights on his vehicle. It is NJ after all. :-}

Hey atleast he got there with the O2 ha

Just curious what was Respiratory rate ?

  6. I was a farm boy from Montana and I did fine on the USCGC 720 Sherman doing counter narcotics and imigration in Central America and search and rescue and

Fishery patrols in the Bering sea and ATON ON USCGC WLB 205 out of Honolulu.. either way the video is kinda out there funny though

  7. One other thought is for you to get those pre-requsites done, get your AEMT class under your belt if you can take it prior to when the medic class starts and also make some money by working to save up some cash for during class needs. Then when you are in class you will be the one the other students come to since you already know that stuff that they don't.

If you are single think of the chicks you might just meet. ha ha that's how I met one of my girlfriends - I had sat through a EMT class before I took my first emt class.

  8. I think I am going to take as many courses as I can IE Math, Anatomy, Physiology, Terminology, and take Loyola's Basic to Paramedic boot camp ( 40 ) hours of prep for the Paramedic course, I also think I would benefit greatly from a AEMT course but if all the AEMT course work is in the Medic program i should just wait to take the medic program, I think I will talk to my employer to see if maybe twice a week if I can do ride along's with our medic's and get some experience that way on such things as medication dosages, and observe advanced procedures.

I have all ready taken PHTLS, BLS PEPP, EMS operations course so I have a well rounded idea of the inner workings of daily EMS operations.

If there is any thing anyone else can think of or has a opinion on what route might be better then the one I am planning feel free to comment and I really appreciate everyones

    advice, Thank you

  9. Thank you all very much, my current plan is to take my A&P 1&2 and a few other courses and I plan on attending Loyola's Paramedic program in 2015, that is the first one open to new students and entrance exams start in May of 2014. My thing is since there is so much time in between now and medic school I did not want to just sit at a basic for the whole time and was looking at becoming a AEMT, what would you do in that situation? Thanks again..

  10. Good evening I hope this message finds you all well, I am trying to locate a AEMT program in Illinois and can't seem to find one does any of you know were I might be able to locate information on one ? Thanks a ton

And just a question would you recommend that I do my street time and put in for a medic program and skip the AEMT program all together ? Or do you think the AEMT would make a good stepping stone, Thank you

  11. I am taking my national registry a week from today I am using emt national training and emt achieve plus several books. Can anyone give me any advice on the test

Just take your time, rule out one that you know is wrong right of the bat, do not read more into the question then it is asking you, Make sure you know OB/GYN, Medical emergency's, and ventilation rates, And you should be fine. I took mine on 7-29 and it was not nearly as bad as i thought it was going to be.

How do you like the emt-national site ? That is what i used and the questions on there are twice as hard as the exam so if you are doing well on that, example on emt-national I was scoring in the 80's and 90's on all sets of questions and reading the rational on all the ones I got wrong and that helped me a ton, I was doing around 200-300 questions a day.. Good luck and let me know what happens I am sure you will do great..
