  1. In all my years of EMS work, I have never had anyone nasally intubate nor have I ever used nasal intubation in a code. I am old school the only way I would ever had considered that would be last resort to save a life. Apparently from your senerio there was no chance of that. Is there anything in his medical history that might explain that? I would also like to know the medications he was on.

Those last questions deal with the trimsmus.

The brain was working faster than the fingers.

  2. What kind of clinicals do EMT"s do in the elementary school? I am OLD school we did them on the back of the fred flintstone car and in the ED.

Opps I forgot my manners being new here myself, i think the proper thing to do is say welcome?

  3. Listen to your instructor stay focused and read the chapter and read it again, Do not be afraid to ask questions if there is something you do not understand, the instructor cant eat you. Get a good study buddy, studying with a friend from class often gives you a new out look on things.

Best of luck to you on your education and keep on going with your education the sky is the limit,

  4. Take a good management class, work on your people skills that is a very imporant part of being a manager, you have to have a back bone to not let people run over you. I was in management for a while, you think being on the street is stressful just wait till you become a manager, your stress level along with every vital sign you have will increase. I wish you luck on your quest.

  5. Could be a torn diaphragm, or maybe the broken ribs are causing atelectasis. The low urine out put could be from dehydration where she has been in so much pain from the broken ribs. The "bilateral consolidation" could mean pneumonia. Did they even ask why she fell anything not in the normal that might have made her fall?

Did they check a baseline glucose? I would really wonder about the urine output and po intake, just because they say the residents eat drink and have good out put doesnt always mean it is a fact,

The elevated creatin goes along with acute renal failure and dehydration.

Nursing homes are not always places to get reliable information.
