  1. The CCP-C isn't a course, it is an exam. CCEMT-P will give you a decent enough prep for the CCP-C and perhaps to a lesser extent, the CCRN. However, you will need a couple of thousand hours as an RN in an acute or critical care setting before you will be allowed to sit for the CCRN.

The CCRN still looks impressive on a resume, the CCP-C still has people asking 'wassat?'

  2. Pros

    • Lots of experience
    • People willing to contribute many hours of discussion
    • Solid underlying sense of humour
    • Fair moderation
    • Multinational
    • Rob was a great asset

    Cons:

    • Doesn't seem to be as many daily posts as in the past (even that other forum is more active)
    • Point has already been made - people refusing to believe they could ever be wrong
    • People making outlandish claims on clinical matters, but failing to provide relevant citation.
    • 'The Golden Hour', '15L via NRB', boarded and collared', 'code 3' 'POV lights'...etc
    • The belief that ones own EMS system sets the standard by which all others are judged. There is a whole world of EMS out there - quite possibly more advanced and progressive than the majority of us have experienced.
    • Lawsuits
    • People who try to bring religion into a discussion in an attempt to strengthen their argument

That's the volley FDs with the mansion fire halls (the tiki bar does exist).

    cough* Coram? :innocent: cough*

  3. The problem with these insane predictions, from these equally insane and insecure individuals, usually starts when words such as "fact", "proof" or "guarantee" are bandied about.

Stay off the drugs Harold - you shouldn't have to be told a third time

  4. hence the reason hospital staff are needed on transfers etc ...

No necessarily though. There are plenty of para-lead CCT teams in the US doing level 3 transports daily, and SECAmb's CCP course looks to be heading that way (as well as the thoracotomy-in-a-ditch type work).

...you will work as a member of the critical care team' date=' operating in ground ambulance unit undertaking critical care transfers throughout the south east coast area[/quote']

  5. I have read of people asking about getting onto the UK HPC by means of attaining AREMT registration, so there certainly seems to be some misinformed individuals out there. Are they just a register for people to voluntarily sign up to, maybe like the US NAEMT? Do they provide any training courses or perhaps an external examination that would look good on a CV / resume (UK Dip IMC)? Is Paramedic a protected title in Oz? Most importantly, do the AREMT have a nice patch?

    So many questions...
