So just because volunteers don't get paid for dropping everything, leaving their loved ones in the middle of their childs birthday party, and risky their lives to help complete strangers, that makes them less important or less skilled? Agreed, just a sore subject. What is RIGHT with my organization?... Working with a great group of people who share a common goal. We may not all get along but when it comes down to it we are all there for the same reason.

What is wrong with volunteers??

Just wanted to say hi to all. I have been most impressed by the way everyone here looks out for each other. By that I mean the positive comments made to a member about a particular bad call that member had been on. Everyone here seems to have genuine concern for someone I am assuming they have never even met. Those are the kind of EMS people that I hope to work with some day. I am a volunteer First Responder for a local F.D. for the past 8 years and have recently passed my EMT Basic class. So in the mean time I am looking for the "perfect" EMT job to fulfill my "dreams". I would also like to take my Paramedic class next year maybe. Having trouble convincing the hubby and kids on that one though. I look forward to reading more encouraging posts here. And hopefully learn some great things along the way.
