I don't know the benefits, but basics start 9.50-10.50 and paramedics 13.50 - 15.50 I believe. They are also very generous for schooling b/c they don't want to lose you lol.

that's what sucks about chicago for basics :-) I can't wait to start paramedic school. I am from here but I took the basic course in galveston island, texas, and they run municpal stations or whatever you call it. They are so short EMTs they went to the local community college and told us as soon as we pass NR come to Galveston EMS and we can work 911. (they usually partner you with a Paramedic)

I searched around trying to find an answer but couldn't so sorry if this has been answered before: When taking a BP, I notice the needle jerking w/ the heartbeat, before I start hearing the heartbeat itself. So am I suppose to measure the systolic when the needle starts jerking or when I first hear the faintest beat?

I'm not sure where to post this question...I passed the NR Basic and I am filling out the reciprocity packet for illinois (I took the class in texas). It says it takes 6-8 weeks to process and send your license - why does it take so long?

I've been in rehab since feb. There was one dude (actually my house manager) who jokingly said yeah man you ever get taken to the hospital, tell them you're allergic to everything except demerol that shit fucks you up !!
