If it is just a BLS crew that administers the drug will they be capable of managing an acute withdrawl episode if it occurs. Will they be able to handle any of the multiple problems that could occur with any medication administration? Yes it might save more lives than it takes but in the big scheme of things it just takes one incident to end the career of a good ems provider. 

It is less pronounced in effects if it is given IM but still there is too much liability for allowing EMT's to give the drug.

Mikey I never said it was A WRONG CHOICE...I have and will support my boys in what ever choice they make. All I want is them to be happy in what ever they do. I turned him on to this page cause I respect the people here and I know that you all will guide him and keep him on the right path. I have made many friends here over the years when I was on here. I respect them and I know they will help him with the questions and thoughts he may have. Some things are easier coming from other people and not your mother!

Just wanted to say hello and ask a favor of you all, My son has decided to quit nursing and go into EMS I have given him the site name and everything since I know there are some really smart people here that might be able to encourage and lead him in the right direction. Just be gentle I know that in EMS some times we are notorious for eating our young so just be gentle! Since I officially retired last July from EMS he doesn't ask me to help like he did in nursing. I am not sure what his screen name is yet but I do know he has made him an account. Thanks in advance

I agree with Brett why give him or anyone more publicity? That is just playing into their hands.

But I would like to know how people get to that point in their life, and what makes them tick. But as far as keeping it going in the press that just gives them more fame and causes the families more grief. As long as it keeps going the family of the victims will never get any closure. Why should they keep pouring salt on those wounds just to sale a few magazines. That makes them as heartless as the terrorist.
