  1. Mike, incorrect assumption. I have no desire to drive a vehicle with dual rear wheels since the ride would be terrible, and it would be a pain to park. I'd drive a Geo if I thought it was safe. I just think in a car vs. truck accident, it would be safer to be in the truck. But I'm sure there are a million different variables. Point taken.
  2. Point taken. Would dual rear wheels, like on a F-350 prevent the vehicle from rollover on side impact?
  3. Notwithstanding the increased risk of rollover, it just seems like it would better to be higher than the bumper of the unit that nails you in a side impact. You might toast your leg and/or hip, but I think you have a better survival chance in a full size truck/suv.
  4. My thinking is to go with a larger frame, at least a a 1/2 ton (F-150, etc) to give you that extra steel and weight around you. In addition, this will get you up higher to prevent thoracic injuries in the even you get t-boned. I'm also thinking as long as the truck had the safety canopy with side curtain bags that blow for like 6 seconds as you roll, that would be a plus. Gotta also have stability control. Have you guys seen much problems with roof collapse on F-150's?
  5. I was hoping to get some real world advice, since you guys see the crashes, and know what vehicles have survivors.
  6. We have 2 kids age 3 and 5. What would be a safe vehicle for my family? I'm thinking the safest would be something like an F-350 with dual rear wheels, to reduce chances of rollover. What's your take on this?
