  1. Hey all, I was wondering if anyone could give my insight as to what I can advance my career to. I know that the I can always become a Medic but I was wondering if there were any other options I can consider. Im 32 years old. I didn't finish college so I don't have a degree. For years I was doing office work just to make a paycheck...I decided to take an EMT course and get certified so that I could do something more rewarding and beneficial. I am currently working for a private ambulace company and I also volunteer in the community. I really enjoy what I do now. I've considerd becoming a paramedic, however, my understanding is that the pay difference isn't so much. Ive been told things like: Why become a Medic and bear more responsibility for little difference in salary? I, recently married and looking to have a kid soon. So, I guess, My main concerns are: 1) How much money can I really make as an EMT-B? and 2) If I decided to bridge my way to another profession, how much schooling would be involved? Must consider tuition / time? Thanks!
  2. Thanks for the advice! It's definitely something I'll consider! I was also considering the physician's assistant program. What do you think? Class is AWESOME! I'm doing really well. It's amazing how much I feel I've learned in such little time. I am now CPR Certified. I am very proud of that. I've been taking this class very serious and I'm one of the best in the class. Got 100's on two quizzes and a 91 on first cumulative exam. Excited to learn more!
  3. I should apologize, I realized I wrote that I was already enrolled in classes however, I've only mailed in my registration fee. The actual classes begin next Thursday. It meets every Tuesday and Thursday evening. I found the course online through Emergency Care Programs. I am not sure what agency I would use my skill for. I'd appreciate any advice or guidance. What are some things I should expect when I finally complete the course? Are some agencies preferred over others as far as employment for technicians? Is it difficult becoming employed by such agencies? Thanks for your reply and introducing yourself! Hope to hear from you again! Thanks! Yea I'm excited about my decision in becoming an EMT. I will definitely learn as much as I possible can. I will pay attention to all of my superiors any senior EMT's and try to learn as much as I can from their experiences. I know I will find great pleasure and satisfaction knowing that I will be able to help someone. I'm sure every day has it's "up's & down's" but I will feel good knowing I made a difference and that my efforts won't go unnoticed. I will STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!!! Thanks for saying hello! Well, Congratulations to you on completing your course! Good luck with your career! I'm sure it's exciting for you. I'll bet in three weeks, you've learned and seen a lot already. Keep up the good work and when you've experienced anything interesting, I'd love to hear about it. What agency are you working for and how did you get placed there?
