A few things about me.

I'm a currently active Emergency Medical Technician, Basic for the state of Maryland, residing in the Saint Mary's County area. I work for Second District Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad (www.sdvfdrs.org), and have been interested in the EMS sector for years.

I use a Motorola Minitor IV pager to alert me as to when my company is called into action, and prefer using my Moore Medical Heavy Duty stethescope.

My company will soon have all of our boxes standardised into Lifeline models on Ford E-450 chassis'. This works for me, as our current sore-thumb ambulance (67) is an International, and I can't stand upright in the box without hitting my head on an oxygen outlet. My company is also the only intergrated fire/EMS company in the county, as all others have seperate stations for their fire and EMS personnel.

My education in the EMS sector comes from MFRI (Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute), a subsidiary of Maryland State University. I have met and passed the expectations of 140 hours of training, a 70% minimum on my written, along with passing all criticals on the practical final.

As of 9/11/09, I have 115 calls completed since joining my squad in December '08. This does not include cancellations.
