  1. Wow! That makes me very nervous...I am a trained person and I wouldn't want some of that stuff in my personal possession. I can't imagine that he knows and understands the administration of IV dose medication...'oh this looks like enough dilaudid...oops they stopped breathing, let me get my airway kit'. Not to mention the fact that he probably doesn't even know how to establish IV access being as he mentions little or no medical training.
  2. "Flu-like symptoms" & "Not feeling Well" (most of these come from the 2 NHs in town)
  3. Practicals are over; and passed with flying colors! Received great comments from all evaluators! Nothing like a evening filled with a Cardiac Arrest, a Bee Sting, and a Fallen over drunk! On to the next step - NREMT!! Thanks for the advice guys - I had a lot of fun tonight! ~chevy
  4. My Practical exam is tonight ( Iowa Weather Permitting!). I am confident in my stations, but have some pre-exam jitters. Best wishes to all the others who will be taking final exams and registry exams in the next couple of days and weeks. ~Chevy Safe Travels and Happy Holidays!
  5. Although it's only Monday...'Everyone is Workin' for the Weekend'
  6. I have a bachelor's degree in Music Education as well as a bachelor's degree in Biology. The pre-req coursework has been completed.
  7. They are changing the sequence of classes, and so it doesn't 'mesh up' for me.
  8. The current school I am going to for my EMT-B (pre-req. to the Paramedic Program) is restructuring their program which would require me to wait a semester to begin my PS classes. There is also an option at the Univ. of Iowa Hospital for a 15 wk PS program (M-F 8-4) followed by field & clinical internships. I was just looking for thoughts as to whether or not I should wait a semester and start the Two year program, or if I should go to the intensive training program at the U of I. Thanks in advance for your replies! ~ Chevy
  9. Don't know why but - "25 or 6 to 4"
  10. Good work! In my home town the nearest ALS is close to 45 mins away by ground and the entire county transports to a 'band aid stand' of an ER. Any time there is a critical pt. I am very concerned for thier life. The current EMS Director & I are trying to get the community & county behind a hospital based medic service. This is a major issue nation wide, resources just aren't always readily available to communites of smaller size.
