Trust me I did, and from what I heard from people in school and out of school that LifeStar and Medcorp were always hiring. Fa fa fa fa fa foolish.

That's what I thought, I'm a 20 year old who has never been in any kind of trouble. [surprisingly enough it just came back. Pissing and Moaning about it must have worked.]

These are all really great ideas and I'm currently pursuing all of them, [especially the ride along.] While calling and asking about it, I learned that the state of Ohio screwed up my EMT-B cert card and I had to do about 2 hours of phone tag to get it straightened out seeing as my instructor moved out of state and they were supposed to take care of the forms. They got the forms and lost them. But it's settled. Finally. The person I dealt with, Jan Greenlee was excellent at taking care of everything. Props to her. I have another question to venture to Ohioans and people of the other states here. If you had to undergo a background check how long did it take to get anything back? Mine has been up for 3 months and I still haven't heard anything back. It's though BCI. Any one have any info? I e-mailed/called the offices but they said they couldn't tell me anything about a pending or possible check they may be running.

I did realize that about Lucas County as the only ALS and yes I don't have much experience in the field and am looking to go on to Medic school but I wanted to get a few months or so experience under my belt [emergent/non-emergent] to see if it's really what I wanted to do. Looks like I'm going to be on the look out for some on break band-aid wagon crews.

That's the thing though, these places it seems the only way of talking to them is through e-mail or phone. If it wasn't, I would be at their doorstep. In Toledo, there is only two places. MedCorps and LifeStar. That's why I'm here asking if there's anything more I could be doing. I've tried calling them and asking them if they've look at my application, but I just get a machine or a message saying, "If this is concerning employment or application status check the website at Mercyweb.org." If anybody has any ideas of being an "aggressive individual actively pursuing employment at their company..." I'm all ears.

I'm the only one I know that is involved in this field. And the LifeStar place is an all online application thing and if you call them you can't actually talk to the people who does the hiring. I'm not making excuses [maybe I am.] I'm just frustrated.

I was wondering if anybody had any info on the ambulance companies in the Toledo area. I've put my application in at LifeStar and Medcorp but still haven't heard anything back. It's been quite awhile. I don't have much experience seeing as I'm 3 or so months out of getting my NREMT cert. I don't know what else I should put on my applications. I also put in at my local Fire Dept. [Walbridge.] but the background check is taking forever. [3 months.] Any advice/wisdom any one would wish to impart on my would be very much appreciated.

I know. But like I said, it's more well, for now, the PRIMARY reason I carry it.

As an EMT-B, in my region of Ohio you are. The main reason I have it, is my boss is a borderline diabetic and he knows how to use it. I guess the reason is due to many people becoming diabetic or close to it, normally know how to use it... and if the situation comes up, I'll have one that THEY can use. That's properly calibrated and everything.

Thanks. [i knew about the Good Samaritan Law but it's always good to know about.] The Glucose Meter and other stuff is mainly in there just in case anything happens else where.. i.e. medical.

I was wondering. As mentioned before, I'm still in class... but if I were to see an accident before or after EMS got there, should I get out to help? I guess this is more for the AFTER EMS arrived thing... because I would regardless get out and help... after parking safely of course! :wink: I have a First Aid kit I packed myself plus some little extra things first-aid kits don't normally have. [Glucose Meter, BP/Steth kit. etc...] Should I get out and offer help even though I'm still just a student or would I get in the way? Thanks.

I had a partner... Halfway through my class she decided she was scared of blood and quit. [Oh well, she couldn't tube a dummy if her... well the dummies life depended on it.]
