  1. Well I just talked to medics and they told me to come in for orientation on thursday. I guess I have the job. I am pretty happy about that. As for the question above I am interested in medicine. I someday actually hope to go back to school and maybe go to medical school. I really don't care about the lights and sirens. Although the look you get while wearing the uniform does make you feel good.
  2. How did a thread about Medics Ambo Company turn into a fire vs ems thread? How does patient care suffer by have a fire based EMS system? There are a lot of people here that are constantly bashing people who want to be firefighters like they are going out and killing people. We are all on the same side right?
  3. DustDevil dont get me wrong I have wanted to be a firefighter or cop since I was a little kid. You do understand that fire/rescue down hear is like 90% EMS calls. I dont dislike EMS but at the same time I also want that extra rush of going to a fire. My post was not meant to hurt your fellings.
  4. I just put my app in with Medics and went for an interview. They sent me to do a drug test and said there will be a orientation on the 30th. I dont know much about what they are doing right now but it is just a job until I can get my fire certs and get a Fire/Rescue job.
  5. Having taken my WEMT-B through SOLO I can tell you it is was a better course than at the community college or any where else. You are there for one month training everyday except weekends (most people study or practice with equipment). The instructors have been active in the urban and wilderness medicine community forever. Regardless of what you might be told SOLO was the first to come up with a wilderness medicine curriculum. They are the best school out there for wilderness as well as urban emergency medical training. If you have any specific questions, comments, or concerns please post here. I know when I posted here the last time telling everyone I was going to take a WEMT course I was made fun of and ridiculed(all in good nature?). But the training was top notch and the experience was great.
