  1. In September of 07 I started working for Johnson County EMS in Arkansas. They are based our of Johnson Regional Medical Center in Clarksville AR. I always thought that my IV and Patient skills were good but this made me step back and take another look. If you stop and consider the actual time that we on the ambulance actually spend with a patient it is very little. I have been able to hone my "PEOPLE SKILLS" better in the ER. When I work, we are to take the calls but when not on a call function basically as a nurse until such time as a CODE happens. Then we basically just take over and the DOC looks on. ITS GREAT!!!
  2. I know what RURAL EMS is. I have worked in Rural Arkansas since 1995 and let me tell you a thing or two. There is rural and there is RURAL. Some of the place that we go to get out patients have to be accesses on the back of ATV's. I work in the area just north of Mt. Magazine State Park in Logan County Arkansas and while it is beatuiful to look at, sometimes it is very difficult to work in. We have lots of visitors from other states and they like to think they come from rural areas. Just a couple of unplanned steps around the mountain and they are really RURAL
  3. I wish our service would purchase turnout gear for us. We are required to operate the Rescue gear but have no PPE except for a pair of gloves, goggles and a little plastic helmet.
