I have read that speech a while back, I can't remember exactly when. Most of the speech talks of things that I kind of intuitively knew from experience. The point that was most revealing to me was the one that "We don't save that many lives".

When that rare occasion comes around when I know that the person would have definitely died had I not been there, the satisfaction is sufficient for all of the others that I simply helped get along.
