  1. I have had film crews ride with me a few times. I was on one of those shows mentioned earlier years ago. Didn't affect the job any other than they got in the way at times in the back of the truck and I had to really watch what I said as I am not known for my proper language. They edit all of that out anyway. I don't get in trouble by doing stupid stuff on the job so didn't have any issues at all. Other than that don't know what else I could share. They rode with me a couple weeks and got maybe 5-10 minutes of good footage. Nothing exciting happened on my truck basically the entire time they rode. I have had local news crews ride with me in the past to for stuff like EMS week and the such. Wasn't as bad as I actually knew the people on the crew riding.

  2. I am about to take an EMT course, and then probably paramedic course next year. At this college we get national certification as well as Florida (assuming we pass the test!) How hard would it be for me to work in another state once I'm certified? Does this vary by state?

It depends on the state. Most states that accept NREMT reciprocity though simply require an application to be filled out and pay a fee. I took all of my classes in Illinois. I have gained reciprocity in Missouri, Louisiana, Texas. Is Florida a full NREMT state now? Florida is was one state where it was tougher to get reciprocity. Even if you had NREMT they still required you to take the test again which they used for their state test.

  3. We run around 50,000 911 calls a year with 9 24 hour trucks and 3 12 hour peak load units. I have no idea how many transfers and non-emergent calls there are in the Parish. We have a private contractor cover those. I read recently we are the homicide capital per capita at the present per an FBI report. It might of changed but we sure seem to have the killings on a regular basis.

  4. The only thing I can say is live and work through an event like this and then step back and see if your opinion is still the same. None of the pictures you will ever see, and I mean none of them will ever capture the true impact this event. I don't really wish to elaborate on what I saw. Do I agree with what happened? I don't really know. Do I think they murdered these people? No, i do not. Would I want my family members to lay through this in misery and die a slow and painful death? No, not at all. Like I said, you had to have been here at impact to truly appreciate what happened.
