In my experience the LMA is not a good pre-hospital airway adjunct. It is very prone to being dislodged, even the AMBU one, which I prefer.
As already stated by USAFMEDIC 45 the combitube is much more stable.
I have a survey form about the LMA that was very kindly sent to me. I will send it to you and you can use it if it fits your needs.

I have shaved my head for about 8 years now due to the fact that wearing a flight helmet & motorbike helmet everyday cost me a fortune in shampoo!! I find it much more practical and less expensive. It's also great when the mrs does the shaving!!!!

Have to agree with Ridryder on contents of jump kit. You couldn't "jump" at all with the weight of some of those kits described!!
Take care folks.

They are ALS only over here. We have them as a back up if intubation fails.
In my experience they are great in the OR but not very secure pre-hospital. We don't use combi-tubes, obturators etc.
Happy EMS week to you all. Fly safe, drive safe, be safe.

We have the option of both with our LP12's but I prefer to use the Quick Combo's.
You all take care out there.
Medical/Telemetry Control - Yes or No?
in Patient Care
Posted
I have never worked under Medical Control. All procedures and drug administrations are my/crew decisions. I am sure this is how most of Europe operates, (please correct me if I am wrong).
I am able to seek advice from "higher up" if I feel the need but over the past 25 years I can count on 1 hand the times I have done this.
I can see advantages to a Medical Control system, mainly on the accountability side of things but knowing that you have made the decisions on the care and treatment of a patient gives great job satisfaction.
