Hi ,
I was teaching a cpr course and a student asked me for a temp cpr card until the cards came . I never heard of temp cpr card ( although that sounds brilliant). Has anyone heard of them or know how to obtain them? Thank you.

Hi,
I recently received my bls instructor cert from aha. I was curious about cpr manikins. Are there ones that are better then others? Im torn between cpr prompt manikins ( blue body/ cheaper in price) and the little anne ones ( which we used in the instructor course). Also any suggestions on aed trainers ( phillips, zoll etc) would be appreciated too. Thank you!

haha. they said 2 more companies are going to be indicted soon. still, there are over 50 private companies in the city and right out the city. once owner find out they are being watched, they close and open up under a new name. There should be a freeze. Its out of control.

as stated above pfd ( ems side) rarely have dual medics now. They are so short handed that most of the time its one ff and one medic. The pfd hasn't had a medic class in i think over 3 or 5 yrs. Also i am not sure if their whole system is the busiest in the nation, but i know one of their medic trucks has had the most calls in the nation.
as far as the private ambulance ( transport companies) their are i believe over 50 just in phila. alone. with many more right outside of the city. Most have less then 5 trucks. Working for one is a great way to learn the area but thats about it. you would prob never use your skills for you mostly would do dialysis runs

Those on the political left aren't going to like this one...
The ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER
This one is a little different ...
Two Different Versions ...
Two Different Morals
OLD VERSION
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.
The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed.
The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.
MORAL OF THE OLD STORY:
Be responsible for yourself!
MODERN
VERSION
The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long,
building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.
The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and
plays the summer away.
Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.
CBS, NBC , PBS, CNN,and ABC show up to
provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.
America is stunned by the sharp contrast.
How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?
Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper
and everybody cries when they sing,'It's Not Easy Being Green...'
ACORN stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, “We shall overcome.”
Then Rev. Jeremiah Wright has the group kneel down to pray for the grasshopper's sake.
President Obama condemns the ant and blames President Bush, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper's
plight.
Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry
King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper,
and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay
his fair share.
Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act
retroactive to the beginning of the summer.
The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government GreenCzar and given to the grasshopper.
The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant’s food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn't maintain it.
The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.
The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and peaceful, neighborhood.
The entire Nation collapses, bringing the rest of the free world with it.
MORAL OF THE STORY:
Be careful how you vote in 2010.
that made my night thank you

yes , the way it was explained to me that both pts were stable. He said the one pt that sits up front was not being billed but does ( or did if still living) have a hx of HTN and has had b/p over 200 after treatment. the other pt would be on the stretcher since that pt was being billed. I just think God forbid something happen to the pt while sitting in the front seat ( vehicle accident, stroke)
Thanks everyone for all the input
ohh and yes bls pt.s
-
I know this is an old post , but i have a question. One of my co workers said at his old company they would transport 2 dialysis patients at the same time. I asked how is that legal? He stated that since one pt was not being billed they would put him in the front seat and the other patient on the stretcher. I cant find any info on this subject online. This was the first i ever heard of this . Anyone else hear of transporting 2 non emergency pt's at the same time.
-
would anyone or has anyone taking off their boots to enter a place of worship? I personally have never encounter a situation like that, but I don't think i would take of my boots first then treat the pt.

thanks lone. wow why would you talk like that over the radio? we all complain from time to time about a job but, never over a radio/phone line. this day and age you never know who is listening.
-
Does anyone know what was said over the phone/radio that got the medic fired?
-
@usmc, I was thinking the same thing. I never had an e.r. staff member take my stretcher from me. We bring them in , give the report, they tell us what bed, we transfer the pt, we leave.
-
Would anyone not take cover if being shot at while treating a pt.
-
yes you're right some say it also violates the 10th amendment . healthcare is not one of the powers delegated to the gov't. last i checked/heard there are 36 states ready to file a lawsuit against the govt as soon as the president signs the bill. 36 states, to me that says something.
-
I am hoping that since this bill will not go into effect for another 4 or so years, that the new admin will through it out. I also wonder about the ppl whose religion does not beilieve in medical treatment, what they think .
Duty To Act?
in General EMS Discussion
Posted
I think it depends on which state you live in. I was told by my emt instructor that Pa does not have a duty to act
