  1. I was watching tonight show of ER and on there they had one of the dr's brother become an EMT. As a tradition as a new EMT,they gave him many shots of hard liquar and he ended up in the ER cuz he drank too much.

I was wondering where you work at, do they have any traditons when they hire on new EMT and Medics even if this is thier very job as an EMT or Medic?

  2. Thanks for the advice. I just checked mine and it's not on my driving record. Strange how when I tired to get my own car insurance and State Farm said it was on my record and they would not even condiser me for car insurance. I don't have a criminal record and don't do drugs so.

  3. These are some brutal prices. One thousand dollars and up for a 110 hour class seems pretty steep. I remember the basic class was $150 including books and clinicals back in the late nineties. Both my Basic and Intermediate were compliments of the good tax payers. :)

    Take care,

    chbare.

Ya I agree, some of the prices are really horrible just for an EMT - B class. Yikes. I am thinking the place I am going to cuold care less if they make a profit of the class or not. Like a good deed to the community type of thing.

  4. Will the ambulance company's course allow for college credits down the road?

If not you might consider taking the college program. It may not be that big of a benefit now, but at some point you may see a need to have some additional college credits.

The EMT class I took was 17 years ago, so it's not really going to compare. The paramedic program that I run has been steadily increasing it's price to cover the costs involved. We include books and clinical rotations for $1600 U.S. Since it is through a non-profit facility, this is just enough to cover the total cost of the program with 20 students enrolled. The local community college will run roughly $3-4000. They do offer the same credits for our program once completed. You just have to pay for the credit/hours.

    That's a good question.

  5. I was just wondering what it cost you to take the EMT and or Medic class.

I will be going for an EMT - B and was givin 2 local places on where to take the class. One at the local ambulance station or the community college.

Abbulance company -$280 includes text books, pocket mask,Hasardous Materials R and I certification,WMD,EVOC certification and enrichment in Sports injuries.

    Community College -

    $119 for 2 books,

    $25 fee for something,

    $280 for the class

    _______________

    $424 Total

And the woman did not tell me what other certification I would reciving also.

I chose the local ambulance campany to take my class at. And plus I was told that is the best place around where I live to take the class at.

My question is how much did it cost you to take the class.

    Thanks

  6. Only report it if they ask specifically about accidents in the past 3 years. That's all I would do. No elaboration just that I was involved in one minor car accident in the past 3 years.

There is something to be said for giving too little info rather than too much sometimes.

Thanks for the answer. I know I have been reading and people don't give much info on why they are asking the question.

  7. I had a little driving accident 3 years ago this December. The accident was not my fault but by PA law, if you hit someone its your fault. The guy I hit, went and stoped and I hit him. No major damage done to either car. The cops came to the scene but didn't give me a ticket or anything.Just asked how everyone was and left. I reported it to my insurance company(my rates didn't go up). I was told that the accident will stay on my record for 3 years and will come off in December 2007.

My question is do I report this on a job app if not asked and if asked tell them it will come off in December, or wait to tell them at the job interview and explain to them what happened.

    Thanks

  8. This is why when I go out to bars with friends and if I drive myself there or drive them, I won't drink and drive. Most places around here won't charge for pop or water if they know you are driving. If I know I am going to drink, I have someone came and get me. My friends understand my reason behind it and support me 100%. Plus at the end of the night,if someone who is driving gets wasted, they have someone to count on for a sober driver.

Your friend should be upfront and honest about his DUI.

  9. Kinda sad what the world has come to be.

I found my cell phone number on a site once and said who my carrier was. The site also listed my step-dad,mothers and sister cell numbers and they are all on the same plan and have the same carrier as I do. And I thought my carrier don't give out your cell phone number. I guess they do.

On the myspace, I just removed somethings from my page, set all my blog's to friends view only and removed some blogs as well. I also just removed a comment that a friend posted on one of my blogs that could have been discussed in pravite or sent me an e-mail about. Also, when I get friends requests,I check out that person page, look at it and 9 out of 10 times, I hit the deny button unless I know that person.

  10. Interesting article. I know when I did the Explore Program for a local ambulance company a few years ago(that is how I got into the world of EMS),I remember going to some calls that were BS too. Including this woman who was pregnant and wanted to go to the hospital but her family didn't want to take her. Don't remember what the out come was. Bad for us is that I we have to take them unless they refuse to go to the hospital when we get there.
