  1. Even if you are willing to go north, there isn't much up there. I worked for the most northern service, and hiring is not happening. Not even anything in the future. Recently was hired for a southern service part-time, they are laying off two other pt medics because no openings. No hiring for both my services come next spring. Go to alberta, challenge the EMT-A and get experience out there. That is what I would do!

  2. I'm a medic in northern ontario... I work PCP in a remote community and I'm pulling in six figures annually. However, lots of oncall which includes call-backs and 3 man crews doing the work of 4 so lots of OT as well. I'm making more then the ACP(f) and some CCP(f) that come up for medivacs out of my community. However, they sleep, I don't have that luxery. But... a few months up here as a new grad, really helps relieve the debt load outta school. My hourly wage is $29.95/hr. The PCP job market is closing up in Ontario so the hourly wages may be great, but the hours for new hires are few and far between. I guess I'm lucky to have a full-time job. Might fight for the dark side soon and go fire, I hear they love medics. 8)
