  1. Hey Guys,

Its been a long while since i been on EMT City, a LOT has changed, been over a year, maybe even 2 since i was here last.

But Alas, I am back, and i have a topic I would like all your inputs on.

I am looking at getting a Tablet, I am really looking at the Ipad as everyone seems to think highly of it.

I wouldnt mind also getting one to take on Car, more for the Navigation (on a 10 inch screen) I quite like the Navigation on my Smart Phone (windows 7 phone) its way more responsive then a Garmin GPS which lags like an old pentium 133 Desktop.

I dont know if they have any sort of Rural Addressing or Legal Land Addressing Apps for the Ipad, does anyone know ? Also our Alberta Health Services Protocols will be nice to have in electronic form, rather then sifting through a small 2 inch thick pocket book.

So what im wondering is, What Tablets do you guys use and why ? why did you choose that particular one over the others? Im trying to get some detailed information to help with my decision.

Im not too impressed that the Ipad does not have a USB port, im not sure how i can transfer my music or videos or pictures onto an Ipad should I want to. But the 3G access will be super handy especially if im going to take it out on car.

Also do you guys have any sort of ECG Apps you use for refreshers / reading, or even any Heart Anatomy aps ?

thx for taking the time to answer all these questions...Im wanting to buy a tablent around Mid Month so any info would be helpful for sure.

  2. Wow, That is pretty Intense:

Im preparing for a suspension too im sure: What did I do wrong ? Paperwork Error

Were using electronic Care Reports, And there are a few sign offs I have done in the paper work and in order for you to "Lock" the PCR you have to have all the correct information filled, well I THOUGHT i been doing it correctly for the last 12 months, Getting the Patient to sign the Refusal Form, And thats it, I was able to lock it, so i didnt think twice i was missing any information.....well recently I had to be brought into the head office, undergo an Interrogation of why I was Acting against Policy by not providing ALL the correct information, Asked to repeat word per word the Proper protocols for patient sign offs directly from the Polocy Procedure Manual (without Looking)

Pretty much being accused of not knowing what i was doing and Purposely acting against protocol. A 3 HOUR Interrogation...I dont see why they didnt tell me i was doing the paper work wrong until MONTHS later....and why they just didnt say "Hey, Your doing it wrong, it goes like this" Im currently waiting a "Fallow up" meeting where im sure ill get some sort of punishment.

  3. I did my EMT Course at SAIT in Alberta, Canada, and I have been an EMT for just under 1 Year,

I have heard that EMT's in Australia have approximately the same type of training for EMT's and that EMT's and Paramedics can Go work in Australia from Canada.

I am wondering if anyone has any information on this, or knows where to get more information, Because if possible I would love to move to australia to work in EMS for a period of time.

    Thanks for any input.

  4. Many of the symptoms of cancer progression and chemotherapy can mimic Fibromyalgia once the CNS is involved. However, it would be difficult to dstinquish since if it is actually the cause of the pain. The treatment and pain management would still be focused on the cancer unless there was a need for an antiflammatory.

Some survivors of cancer do develop Fibromyalgia after they are deemed cancer free. Some believe it is from the chemical changes the body may have experienced while fighting the cancer and the chemotherapy that bring about chemical changes in the CNS and the nerve transmitters. Thus, they may have a lifetime of pain even without the cancer.

    That is Unknown.

  5. Yeah....a long white......

WHat was The reason for that???

I Cant randomly jump in chat and say HI to the people of the EMS world anymore....

    thats very.....disappointing...

  6. Ok so it wasnt my ambulance it was my personal car.

We were doing 24 hr shifts (oh btw i was on my EMT Practicum)

So we respond in our personal vehicles from our house.

It was Friday, at 3 AM (I geuss that would be saturday morning)

We get a Delta Call / Drug overdose, so i get in my vehicle, and theres a 4 way stop ahead, speed limit is 50 in town, i blow the stop sight at 90 KPH, and sure enough theres a cop car right there.

I think to my self "Crap"

I look in the rear view mirror and omg ive never seen a cop car spin around so fast, he floored it, the back tires spun, thick smoke filled the air, he threw on his lights and sirens, black tire tracks marking the ground as he did a 360, well i was only 5 blocks from the Ambulance base, and well i geuss i had to pull over.

Cop gets to my window and im sitting there in my EMS uniform and my radios going off with details of the call.

He looks at me....looks at my radio....looks at me again "You on a call?"

ANd i look at him, look at my radio, hold up my radio for him to hear "Uhhhh Yeah" is all i could sputter out.

He turns around without another word and off i go...

  7. Ahhh I got 2 answers for this!!

My VERY First Call in EMS, Was with my VOlunteer Ambulance Service, we got a call around midnight for an older lady who fell in her Kitchen.

She was complaining of hip pain, i did my assessment, palpated her pelvis and it was stable, i thought about the scoop stretcher but, with the stable pelvis i didnt think she had a broken hip, so we logg rolled her onto a backboard and she hollered out in pain. >.< oops.

THEN I thought i was going to die,

Her vitals were all stable, and was in good spirits, so my partner, ripping down the bumpy highway, 140 KPH, in a rainstorm....ive seriously never been so scared to be in the back of an ambulance!!

My first call on my First FULL Time EMS job

We got a call for an MVC.

An older guy smoked an 8 ball, and tried to commit suicide by ramming an oncoming SUV in his little car, No Seatbelt, No airbags (Yes it was highway speeds)

My heart was just a pounding, and adrenaline Flowing and i thouhgt "Ohhh man this is gonna be one of those Holy Sh** Calls"

    BUT......

we got there and Both drivers had NO INJURIES!!!

    Figure that out.....

  8. Hey Guys,

Just wanted to let You all know, I have compiled a Large quiz from all my modules From my EMT-A Course and put it all into one great big long Quiz.

I Uploaded it into the Resources Area of EMTCity

In hopes that some people out there would find it useful as a study guide or something to help them along with any registration exam or whatever.

Hope some of you find it Useful.

Also I uploaded the answers as well.

  9. Sweet, There was a lot of good ones in there.

What i would REALLY like is a Night scene of an ambulance WIth Lights on...

Those make the best Ambulance Pictures.

Dont suppose anyone has any of those?

Everyones got Sayings, no ones got pictures it seems.

  10. True Enough, but it would usually be the Fire Fighters or Civilians with the pics, i just thought there would be way more out there then what i actually found.

And it doesnt have to show any faces....just the work being done

  11. "This is what we train for!"

Thats A Cool One! I like it.

And yeah, I hear ya, Been Volunteering for my service for over a year and the ONLY time i was able to pull my camera was when we handed off our patient to an ALS Service.

But Pics of Us EMS In action would still be nice.

Cant find nothing on the net, or not much at all.

  12. Thanks EMS Solutions,
