  1. I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming response. I'll pass all the addresses to his school and everyone that has responded will be contacted. They are not sending them out until the end of this month.

    Thanks again to everyone

  2. Our son's 3rd grade class is doing "Flat Stanley"

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to participate? If so, we would need a mailing address to send you the Flat Stanley. They are asking you send a small bit of information about your area.

If anyone in his class does not have enough people to send their Stanley to, I would like to share the addresses with them.

Please pm any addresses to me.

    Thanks in advance.

    David

  3. had a coworker on rescue state pt had equal lung sounds bilaterally didn't seem to notice the big scar on side or the fact one lung had been removed.

had news crew get wonderful picture of me beside upside down car stuck on median guard rail i heard funny sound and bystanders scream, the car was now on fire. i duck down to talk to pts in car and watched me get up and walk very quickly to check on pts on other side of road.

  4. In NJ Paramedics can only work out of a hospital. Joe Blow cannot start a paid service or AMR cannot come into NJ and put an ALS truck on the road, it is ILLEGAL!

    I'm confused by this statement.

Unless there is more than one New Jersey EMS website, the rules that I found state that anyone can come into the state and start an ambulance service. That includes using paramedics.

I could not find any restriction to paramedics must be hospital based or have to have 2 medics per truck. If I've missed that, could you please direct me to the regulation.

I also saw that the term volunteer in NJ referred to a service that did not charge patients for services provided. It said nothing about you personally as an EMT, working for free.

Who's paying for the fuel and supplies? If you are charging the patient for the service, then by NJ law, you are not a volunteer service.

As to your statement that dispatch determines whether a call is BLS or ALS, what if they are given incomplete or incorrect information? It happens all the time around here. And I'm sure it happens elsewhere. Why play the muck around with BLS having to call for ALS? It's a waste of time and resources and delay of patient care.

  5. Had a car go out around me on 3 lane highway forced third driver into median who pulled back overcorrecting. He crosses in front of me, I t-boned him at about 65 mph. My partner was starting to stand up to do something with the patient. She gets thrown forward into the front of the ambulance compartment. Ends up with shoulder and back injury. Our patient was unijured. Driver of vehicle I hit had minor injuries. The driver who caused the accident actually came back as said it was all her fault. No one at work can figure out how I didn't roll the ambulance. I smashed the dash with my knee and also had minor back injury.
