DUH. i was like and how can you possible know this? no test.. typical thai.... he has had this cough for 2 months. the thai doctor also tried to put him on 3 yes 3 antibiotics at the same time. how can i help me poor old father in law....? thank you

  3. ok, this is new for me, have you heard of it? i am living in thailand with my thai wife. We took her father to see a thai doctor, he father had a stroke about 16 years ago, he is well. he smokes, and had developed a bad cough. the thai doctor told me he has yeast in his blood and canot eat bread anymore, keep in mind he eats bread once a week.... Rice is the meal here, lol. so what the hell is this about? is it real? have you ever heard of this before , or is just the typical thai doctors saying whatever they please? thank you.

  4. i remember the first time i was there when someone died while we treated her. I was doing my ambulance rotations when i was taking my EMT-B course. She was a 73 y/o female having a MI, i was scared sh@tless, i was doing CPR compressions, feeling those brittle bones cracking from each compression, no cardio conversions on defibrillation. when i went back to class the next day, it was a weird experience, because this lady was dead, but here i am with my classmates talking about it, but i felt happy i got some action!? that was the oddest feeling for me back then. how about your oddest experience in EMS?

  5. here in Thailand, well in Bangkok anyway. They dont have EMT's. On the ambulance there is a doctor and a driver, thats it. what are your thoughts on this? is it a good idea? i hate it, and currently working with them to train EMT's but it will take some time. the average response time is about 20 min... or more. and the doctros has no experience on MVA extrications manuvers. they take blood samples and stuff on the ambulace and spend alot of time on scene becasue he thinks he can make the ambulance into a hospital. i am just getting fed up with the closed minded way they take EMS. Its just not an important issue for them. MVA deaths are very high here by the way, they only have a recommened speed limit. little scooter meets a pick up at 80 miles an hour... NASTY stuff folks. cheers!

  6. do any of you carry any thing on your person when you are off duty. once and a while i will stick a pair of gloves in my back pocket when i go out, but its rare. I would rather not get involved in situations here in Thailand because of the danger it presents to myself. i once stopped to help a man and his girlfriend here when i saw them slide on some dirt and go down. i stopped to help them, they in return, call the police and tell them i struck them with my bike (which had no scratches), anyway the police too me to the station and locked me in some room alone for 7 hours, they took my cell phone and would not let me call me embassy. i was finally released after i agreed to pay the couple 4000 Thai Baht. so i really dont like to get involved anymore. the reason why i carry the gloves is because i would help with CPR compressions only and let family members breath for them..lol. i know its an odd topic but im bored, so any thoughts anyone?

  7. yea, that was pretty cool. i love watching people making videos of themselves doing stupid things. well i think he lost a sig... amount of blood. dont think its real becuase there would be some indications of ams or hypovolemic shock, anything. but it was funny none the less.
