  1. Last night I finished EMT-P school, Yes Dustdevil I am getting a professional degree - I just need to apply for graduation now since I already had all of my core classes before going into the program. My NREMT-P practicals are this coming Friday and written is in 3 weeks. Can anyone offer any advice on the written - not looking for example questions or anything, I am just looking for information on how deep I dug the hole I am standing in now. I have no fear of my Practical stations - in class I have never had any problem with them - 12/12 on statics, dynamics good every time, basic skills are no problem, IV/ET are not a problem, my Trauma assessments are very complete (Scored Instructor Potential on both written and practical ITLS exams), and Oral questions cant be but so hard (Field preceptors have always commented on a good presentation to my patients). But I am Stressing out on the Computer exam, Any pointers?

  2. Many tactical medic programs are less inclusive than the joe blow concealed carry class. There are only a couple of programs in the USA that should be truly called a Tactical Medic course. Plus as a tactical medic he more than anyone else should have known you do not go up against someone alone which is what he did. He should have waited for backup to arrive then become part of the team to take this mentally unstable person down. Experienced providers know going to as this was dispatched to a mental call that the patient will be unpredictable and thus more dangerous than most people. Sadly it still seems he got tunnel vision or a super man complex and tried to do what should have been left to the cops. Lets all learn not to get tunnel vision and to think safety above all else.

  5. OK why was he playing cop? This is just sad that because he got tunnel vision his family and friends will suffer. We need to learn that if patients are confrontational or want to run that we go away and let the cops have them. I work with a service that pays in the top 10% when cost of living is included in the USA and I know I am not paid enough to add this type of risk. The below is from the link: "The medics arrived first and were approached by the person and as a result, the medic was injured at the scene," Andrew Aninsman of the Bensalem Police said. Investigators say the man then ran. One paramedic followed. When his partner caught up to the two, the medic was on the ground.
