  1. I have this contest up on facebook so I'll post it here. My wife is due to deliver a baby girl in the next 25 days. If you wish to guess when the actual date and time is I will send the person closest a picture of the baby with me, my wife and my son gathered around her. You need to include an email address in where you want it sent. NO NO NO you cannot have the picture without me in it ha ha ha. If two of you are close the time you choose will be the deciding factor. I know it is self evident but here goes If one of you says Sept 12 2pm and the other says sept 12 2:05 and the baby comes at sept 12 2:04 then the first person wins. Capiche? You will recieve a picture of the first girl born in my family in over 120 years. Hows that for WOW factor? If you don't wish to send me an email addy then post the date and time and then PM me a email address. Start your guessing NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. But the headline you advocate does not get people to read the article. But seriously, what the hell was the firetruck doing anywhere close to the helicopter? Who was in charge of the LZ? Sounds like he needs to be given the response "no LZ in charge for you!" The firefighter driver should have looked and watched closer. Too many people to fault here. I'll bet that this won't happen again especially if it comes out of the fire departments budget.

  3. Hit sounds more severe. "Medical Helicopter blade bumped by fire truck." is more accurate. No excuse for this. You STAY AWAY from helicopters. If you must squeeze by, you have spotter. One rotor blade, if unrepairable, can be $40,000 Also costs of loading and transporting that helicopter and getting it inspected.

  4. Whoops. How did the truck get that close to the chopper to begin with. Sounds like there is some LZ training in their future. How is it a mis-leading title? The article states the fire truck was in motion, and it made impact with the chopper? Were you expecting it to mean a head on collision or what?

  5. Misleading title. But was as expected. How much is a rotor? $20,000? Perhaps all must be replaced as a set.

  6. Refusing care during a medical emergency is unethical. Period. Although it is not always illegal. Usually private services that do 911 have a contract with the county they serve. They are paid a set amount annually and they can bill for whatever they can get. The annual fee paid by the county ensures emergency service to all its citizens. Refusal of a 911 call in this case is illegal, immoral and a breach of contract. Private services that do not have a contract with the county they serve have a right to refuse service to anyone if there is a valid reason. Non payment for services rendered is a valid reason. It is up to the county to ensure EMS is available to its citizens. That's what taxes are for. It could be argued here that EMS has a duty to act or that everyone deserves the same treatment regardless of ability to pay and so on and so on. All that is good and fine and very idealistic. It is also socialist. While I personally would help anyone that needed it, if I reasonably could, that reaction from me would be a direct result of my spirituality. As it stands, (for now anyway), we are capitalists here in America and the dollar will unfortunately override compassion sometimes. It's business survival. You can't help anyone if you can't pay your bills. The system needs to be improved, but you can't bash a business for protecting itself.

  9. When I opened this thread I got three messages that say I am ignoring each person who has replied to this thread. It even says that I am ignoring posts by ME I went to my settings, looked at my ignore list and it's empty. the only way to see each reply is to go and change the threshold seen below. I don't want to have to change the threshold each time I log in.
