Well if it did work I would be busy but I have now gone 3 straight shifts without a single call.

SLOW

BORING

QUIET

And the one about the boots... took them on and off 5 times a shift so far. Nothing

Oh and the one about the "haven't had one of those calls".... havent had an MVA, Respitory, Medivac, ALS, Code, FDGB, Dog Bite, or OD in a while. Again nothing.

Oh well.

I realize this is a resurrected string, but still quite amusing. When working in an ER, we NEVER used the "Q" word- it was a crime punishable by death. As for working on the streets, I am considered by many to be a shit magnet. If it's crazy, huge, strange, nasty- it will happen to me. It seems to have rubbed off on my partner since when I am not there he has his share of insanity as well.

Example:

I can honestly say that in the history of my big city, very busy urban department, to my knowledge, I am the only one who has ever had to deal with a lion attack. Can anyone top that?

Every time I leave the ER, I taint their souls by saying "hope you have a slow, quiet, evening". :devilish:

You are truly an evil person. LOL

I bet they have vodoo dolls with your likeness and do nasty things to it when you leave...

What's an "rta"?

Lol. This is kind of funny. I'm known as the "white cloud" because in all of my hundreds of hours of clinical/field time I've only had 2 dramatic cases. Most are only noteworthy because of their utter lack of drama. Hence the fact that, although I've got more then enough hours in for EMT-I, I'm no where close to making comps. Can't even get a patient that needs an IV! And, yet, a nurse still almost beat me when I mentioned it was a slow shift. It got even slower though. I'm now encouraged to use such words.

<!--QuoteBegin-EMTDON970+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (EMTDON970)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I agree hellsbells, thats all BS, there are days I run 6 calls (emergencies and transports) and days I don't turn a wheel, so the Q,S,B and cloud stuff is garbage, I wish I had more emergencies honestly. This town is DEAD,, oops another bad word......lol <img src="http://www.emtcity.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Your next ten calls will be 300+ lb cardiac arrests..

Didn't work........I get a hefty one over 300 lbs once a week, but not arresting.....my company has 3 bariatric stretchers...

Every time I leave the ER, I taint their souls by saying "hope you have a slow, quiet, evening". :devilish:

My old trick is if we transport a patient out the ED I always tell them "you know the rule, 1 patient out and 3 patients come in".........out of the 10 or so times I've said this, it has worked about half the time....they have no sense of humor....

That is one of my own special "jinx" tricks....

Not my call, but close: really stupid male teen climbed the wall of the Bear's cage at the Prospect Park (Brooklyn, NY) Zoo, and was killed and eaten by the bruins. NYPD killed all 3 of the bears in a volly of gunfire, and found parts of the boy in 2 of them. Bears cut open by Medical Examiner, EMS basically was on a standby on the scene.

EMS belief at the time was the cops shot the bear, so they would have tales to tell grand kids: "When I was a cop, I shot a bear in Brooklyn, back in the late 1980s".

This got me thinking. We had a "Tour Commander" at the Communications Bureau, and whenever he was on, we'd have at least 2 Multiple Casualty Incidents happen during his 8 hours of tour, every tour. His nickname was "Captain Blackcloud" (I even gave him a plastic name tag with that name on it, which he sometimes would actually wear), and I think he was the "boss" the night of the bear attack!

Yeah saying the S,B,Q words doesn't seem to work around here. But saying the "we haven't had a ---- call in a while "sure seems to.

Getting in the shower seems to set the tones off too.

yea, that or the treadmill
