Rural County EMS System--Scares me

Not that he needs me to speak for him, but I'll tell you what he knows. He knows that the time it took him to become an RPN is four times more than what it took for most medics in the U.S. to finish medic school. He knows that the education he has from PCP school in Ontario by itself is more than ninety percent of all paramedics in the U.S. will ever achieve. He knows that his combined RPN and ACP education adds up to about three more years than the vast majority of all CCEMTPs and RNs in this country ever achieve. And he knows that just about every U.S. medic that tries to take his mad skillz north of the border gets laughed out on his fat, uneducated arse.

How dare you impugn his knowledge.

Thanks Dust, I'll always trust you to cover my six. :D

...but in the end we are all out there for the same reason.

Yep. To get paid.

I swear, if I ever hear of someone trying to turn 911 dispatch into volunteer service, I will run them in to the ground so far their heads will be popping up in Dust's toilet.

You know Brent, giving something back to the community ( which I really never understood. Just what was it again my community did for me? ). Do it for free.

What do you mean?

What about all those free brake jobs, free video rentals, free coffees, free...ummm.

Crap your right.

Peace,

Marty

Now spenac, you know we are out there to "save lives" gag, cough, sputter, grimace. I cant even keep a straight face on this one. We are there to provide a service and in turn get paid to do a good job. Hey if you think the rural EMS or dispatch, volunteer folks are amusing you should spend some quality time around an arrogant flight crew.

Now we all know flight crews are the best of the best.

It's the helicopter. If I jump out of an A-Star with blades turning and a cool flight suit on my body, I must know everything...right?

And by the way, we are the best of the best. See the above comment.

Take care,

chbare.

Well, they should at least volunteer to take a class on how to give directions and/or ask questions like "if I've never been to your house, how would I get there, and what does it look like, today".

ask questions like "if I've never been to your house, how would I get there, and what does it look like, today".

Why should I have to ask for directions to a house? If you can't tell me that (if you live in my county) 4300 N 500W is .3 miles north of County Road 400N, then its not my fault your service trusts you to drive.

If you can't read a map to find the best way to an address, again, not my problem.

If you don't have a map on your truck, (join with me) again, not my problem.

The "What does your house look like" thats an ok question, I will ask when my police officers are responding hot to a call, because they can't take the time to slow down and look at house numbers, and potentially get shot during the domestic dispute, like ambulances can.

Honestly, who decided it was up to dispatch to give you directions to an address? Did we all fail sophmore geography?
