What Do You Carry On Your Person?

Recommended Posts

Probably too much, but have had a use for all of it on multiple scenes-

Stethescope with tape on it

Notepad (one of those mini-things)

Two pairs of gloves

Sheers

Multiple pens since I am always loosing them

Two SST tubes (for needles in the middle of nowhere)

Mini maglight (flashlight/penlight)

Radio

Pocket reference

I work in rural EMS where we often have to leave our truck behind to go four wheeling to the pt, so sometimes leaving stuff on the truck doesn't work, not to mention that it tends to disappear.

*slightly revised after figuring out what I really need*

Several pens. Like six at least.

One sharpie.

One pair of non-latex gloves

One pair latex gloves (typically grabbed right before I'm on the scene)

One pair trauma scissors

One roll 2" tape

One penlight (which I'm sure I'll lose before the night is over)

Cell phone and pager

Stethoscope in my left cargo pocket

4 pens...i need some to write on gloves, throw aways, and i always lose them.

my smokes, gum, cell, radio...and chapstick

I made a mini standing orders booklet for when I first hired, and since it's always been in my pocket i'd feel funny if i sat down and it didn't jab into my thigh...so i keep it also.

Oh and a pony tail holder ( I have long hair that I don't always pull back 24/7 while at work)

It's funny to look at all these posts, and realize most of you guys are paid. As a vol., I carry the following

-A Pen (on a good day)

-Personal Cell Phone

-Radio/Pager

-Extra Pair of Gloves

-Watch with a Sweep Hand

Everything else is carried in the jump kit, so no need to carry that on me. Never found anything else useful. Plus, being on a volley squad, there's like 20 of us on a call, and someone always has something we need.

Other than the stuff the common layperson has on them...

1) Mini-Maglight

2) Nitrile XL Gloves

3) Motorola "Radius CP 200" Portable Radio

4) Combination protocol mini-guide/notepad & pen
