Hey all!

My name is Scott, 27 and I am employed by Manitoba Lotteries Corp. as a Security Officer for the Casinos of Winnipeg. We are all Basic Rescuers with about 22 Officers trained as AED/ BCLS and O2 therapy providers. I have completed an EMR course at Red River College Dec. 2004. I have been actively pursuing knowledge and reviewing texts and journals while dealing with a pyrogenic granuloma on the side of my foot and then Achalasia treated laparoscopically in January. I am now healthy and training for a career as a Medical Technician with the Canadian Armed Forces. I figure our soldiers will appreciate my efforts more than all the spoiled ignorant fat humans of North America.

After having some fun running myself into the ground I would ultimately like to become an PA. But for now I want to be outside. And shooting stuff is always fun.

Casino work is not so fun were I am after eight years under management who would gladly replace us with child labour or the infirm if it were legal. Alot of good things at the club though and they are very supportive of higher learning, they did reimburse for my EMR certificate and just paid for the Future of EMS seminar here in town. Got in a clinical rotation @ a local Emerg. dept. Also learnt to interpret 12 lead ECG. It's just that as far as opportunities @ Lotteries are few and I don't believe they will get together and hire or train us to be official EMR's at the casino never mind PCP level. the two casinos in town are licensed for over 4000 each, but they are inept at marketing, so we only see about 2000 a day, maybe 3000 on a busy weekend. Although there are definitely many interesting and unique people (I'm convinced some are aliens, ) and stories.

And ya, I've dreamed of the cruise ship gig too. My buddy quit the casino and is a bartender on one, bastard's having the time of his life!

It'll probably be at least three years before I end up in Afghanistan, but maybe sooner if things go really really bad for us and our allies. But I have no doubt we will be there long after I get Cpl. rank. Who knows, we might even start a new base and stay.

I can definitely imagine what goes on in your casino EMT_WOLFE. Yours sounds like a REAL casino and not the flashy adult arcade I wander around aimlessly in. :wink:

Patch... how is 17 Med Coy nowadays? Kinda miss it... thought of remustering as I too had bounced the PA idea around. However the wife had different ideas It sure beats dealing with this amalgamation issue here in "The Peg".

Any electronic docs from the CF yet on MOC 711 (Med A)?

I am not in the forces as of yet. I require a Bio and Chem High school upgrade before I am able to enlist. I wasn't the happiest kid in school. Part of the reason I am starting now @ 27 instead of then @ 17. I have had good times and a lot of experience though. I worked as an exterminator while in school and for a year after Grad, (CHEMICAL WARFARE!), then I got on as a Security Officer with MB Lotteries.
