Green crosses and rescue squad patches still?

Do they still wear white pants, white shirt, white coat and a milkman cap too?

I followed the link back to NC EMS page, and it shows the forms for ambulance inspection... Unbelievable. For the year 2006... Even Pennsylvania requires an ambulance meet KKKA1822 Standards.. North Carolina allows ambulances with only 48" of head room? That's like 30" off from the national standard. I haven't seen an Ambulance with only 48" of head room since the Cadillac Superior Volunteer Model came out in 68.

Trust me, there's more than 48" of headroom. the ambo spec's are KKK1822-F.

Where did you get that information on the page? All the ambulances in NC must meet at the minimum the DOT KKK-1822-E standards. 48 inches of headroom? I haven't seen any ambulance still in service with that size module, the information sounds outdated and very innaccurate, we're way ahead of those times...

They don't say anything about KKK compliancy.

I don't think I'm gonna comment on that

Speaking of the general public not knowing the difference, that reminds me of a call a buddy of mine had and the patient (who was a psych pt, but we'll leave that out of the story), who was walking along a highway, asked them how he knew they were really with the ambulance... so they pointed at the truck 20 feet behind them with flashy lights all over it and he still didn't believe them, so he waited until the fire department showed up. Granted he flipped out and ended up being taken down by PD, but it's the principal of the story. :)
