Here is Illinois can call a Triple Zero if

A) Rigor Mortis

 Obvious Mortal Injury (Decapitation, etc.)

C) Post-Mortem Dependant Lividity

D) Putrefaction/Decomposition

Any of these we call the hospital and the doctor will ask if the pt is cold, voided themselves. If rigor mortis is present and so forth and he will ask that 2 emt's verify no pulse, no lung sounds, no heart beat and will call it over the air.

Dead Dead Dead so glad I can pronounce and not get dirty.........hated those days where u had to and you know it was obvious because dumb ass dr's think medics are brainless only to see them whip out blackberries to look up how to run a code.

Our protocols allow all levels to not start cpr if obvious death ( what state has the rule that for decapitation the head has to be at least 6" from the body? I was told there is one don't know if true. ). Then we have to wait for a Justice of the peace with no medical training to show up and declare them dead. Always makes me feel like laughing when they finally show up more than an hour after we call and they check for a pulse.
