The supreme court has ruled that hobby lobby and other corportations do not have to pay for birth control, but it is fine for those same companies to pay for Viagra. Is that fair to you ?????

I will bite !!!. First of all the supreme court did not rule that corporations do not have to pay for birth control. In the hobby lobby case, HL had always paid for 16 of the possible 20 birth control options for women (note that no insurance company pays for condoms for men, that I am aware of). Obamacare would have forced them to pay for the other 4, which HL saw as an abortion, and they felt that was morally wrong, and did not want to pay for it.

The supreme court ruled that they did not have to pay for what they saw as an abortion. As a female employee of HL, you can still get any form of birth control that you want except for those 4 and have it paid for by insurance, but you can also still get those 4 if you are willing to pay out of pocket; so your birth control has not been banned, it is just a matter of who pays for it

As far as viagra for men, many men who are on it are on it because they have to take HBP meds which make them impotent. I would thing that if you hate little pee-pees, you definitely would not want a flacid one.

Hatelilpeepees, first off please get the ruling correctly. If you choose to come here to start a political argument please do it correctly and have your facts straight and not to start a political argument just for facts.

You can in fact have hobby lobby pay for your birth control, just not the items that HL considers to be the items that kill babies.

Again, please get your facts straight first before trying to incite a fight here.

And the Supreme court ruled that it's not every corporation just the corporations that are owned by a close group of people. So IBM, HP, Home Depot, Lowes, WalMart, Cisco and thousands of other corporations still have to cover those forms of contraception. But a company that is owned by a small number of people like Hobby Lobby are exempt.

Do You really want to go there????

Yeah Mike, but since she's not banned she's giving out incorrect information and we are just giving correct information. Until she's banned we are just providing correct information.

Putting aside the trolling by the OP, this can be a useful discussion. So in this case, SCOTUS has decided that a corporation is exempt from a law based on religious objections. At what point does this stop? Can a company object to a minimum wage based on religious objections? How about a Muslim company refusing to serve Christian or Jewish customers or even women who are not dressed in hijab? Can they force a female employee to wear a hijab even if they are not Muslim? This could potentially be a slippery slope. As an aside, can someone show me where the bible addresses abortion?

there you go again Doc ::: using common sense and logical thinking.

Thought we warned you about that.

Apparently if you are a religious based unit you can claim exemptions from many things .

Churches get out of paying property tax and if a"church" owns prime lakefront land as a summer camp they get away with not paying taxes while everyone else around them carries their burden.

There is one here that has somehow gotten recognition as a "church" more of a cult in their activities that managed to receive the gift of a "parishioners" land on the lake after she passed on. Tax value would be over 1,2 million on the property. town gets nothing from them and all the folks using the "retreat for spiritual cleansing" as the sign says leave nothing behind but trash and noise. Yet the courts have ruled.

I thought that religious discussions were verboten here?

But the only thing I think the SCOTUS decided was that when a company is held (owned) by a few people (hence) hobby lobby, the Greens, that their beliefs translate to the company. That's my understanding. The SCOTUS did not say that a corporation owned by hundreds of shareholders falls under that same umbrella.

And Yes to your question, if a company is owned by a few muslim men and they choose to say that it is their religious beliefs that all women who work for them wear the hijab, then I would expect the supreme court to uphold that belief as well, as long as that group of muslim men could prove that it would be detrimental to their religious beliefs to not do so, I would be in support of that.

I have long said that we are going down a slippery slope that we might not want to go down, that what happens to christians may come back to bite them in the ass.

Seriously, I'm a christian, I hate the fact that babies are aborted every day, I don't like the fact that I pay with my health insurance dollars at my company I work for, for women who I work with to go out and get those medications for free, but I know that abortion is legal and that honestly I cannot do anything about that woman doing what she is going to do, do I like it, hell no, but I can't do anything about it. Sad but true.

I say if you don't like the fact that Hobby lobby won't pay for those 4 items, don't work for em, you know that they don't pay for it, you know they don't pay for it. If you do work for them and you know their stance, don't bitch and moan about them not paying for it if you want it. Go out and pay for it yourself.

People need to take some gosh darn responsibility and gumption and not expect that other people are going to pay for everything that you refuse to pay for yourself. Everything in life isn't free or discounted.

I'm struggling mightily this year financially yet I'm not going on any form of public assistance but I could qualify for some aid. I was raised to fix things myself rather than beg for help or expect it to be given to me. I'm having a bad day at work and my sugar's a little low so I might be a bit incoherent but many of my friends here get what I'm saying.

And for the Sandra flukes out there, stop whining. And Ventmedic, er I mean Ihatelilpeepees, you will get no sympathy from me, go try to start shit elsewhere.

So if I am a small, family owned, ambulance service and I refuse to hire muslims, jews, homosexuals, women, african-americans, or any other group because of my religous beliefs, you are fine with that ?

You have to prove that it will absolutely offend your religious beliefs to not hire any of those groups. But then again, VENT, I'm just feeding a troll so I'm done.
